Live Inclusive

Live Inclusive We support disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to live independently. Live Inclusive's Models of Disability Page.

Live Inclusive has a well-developed ethos firmly grounded in the Social Model of Disability. In practice this means that whenever Disabled people come to Live Inclusive for support they are not expected or obliged to fit pre-conceived ideas about what they need, or to accept pre-existing solutions. Recognising that Disabled people need more than policy statements and good will to change their lives Live Inclusive sets out to define and pursue the aims of Disabled people. We support Disabled people to think about developing their lives within the same range of possibilities and opportunities as everyone else, working together to identify and define the supports needed to realise Disabled people's aims and ambitions. The most important thing is to help people to realise that independence is not a matter of doing everything for yourself but of having choice and control over your life and a say in what happens to you. This has been achieved through the development of a resource that provides a range of integrated, alternative services with clear access for Disabled people. Core services include the Independent Living Unit, Falls support service, IT Training and Support, Maintaining Independence Service, Advocacy, Health Improvement, Training and Education and Consultancy. From time to time Live Inclusive delivers projects to compliment the core activity of the organisation for example 'Choosing Independence' a Lottery funded project that supports people to understand personal budgets. We have a membership comprising ‘full members’ (Disabled people) and ‘associate members’ and operate a committee structure fully accountable to our membership.

Caring for someone else often means your own needs take a back seat.
And yet carers show up, every single day, supporting loved ones through illness, disability or age-related needs, often unpaid and unseen.

That’s why Carers Week (9–15 June) matters.
It’s a national campaign to recognise, support, and celebrate the millions of unpaid carers across the UK, and to raise awareness of the help that’s available.

We’re pleased to share this local event happening in Doncaster as part of the week:

Carers Cuppa
Monday 9th June 2025
10:30am to 12:30pm
The Linney Centre (rear of shops), Weston Road, Balby

It’s a relaxed drop-in for anyone in a caring role.
Pop in for a brew, a biscuit, and a chat with people who understand the ups and downs of caring.

No need to book… just come along.
For more details, call 01302 734567.

Please share with anyone you know who’s caring for someone — even if they don’t call themselves a ‘carer’ just yet.

A little kindness goes a long way

Sandie, our brilliant Energy Advisor, was surprised with this beautiful bunch of flowers from a lovely group she’s been supporting recently.

She’s been helping them find simple, practical ways to reduce their energy use and save money at home, including handing out free LED lightbulbs to help cut bills without cutting comfort.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about advice. It’s about connection, care, and making life a little easier where we can.

Got questions about your energy bills or how to save at home? We might be able to help. For more details:

Carers Week is coming up and it’s one we’re proud to support.
It runs from 9–15 June, and it’s all about recognising the quiet dedication of unpaid carers, the people who look after loved ones day in, day out, often without a break or even being seen as ‘carers’ themselves.

We know caring can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting, isolating and emotionally tough. Carers Week shines a light on that. It’s a chance to celebrate carers, raise awareness, and make sure no one feels invisible or alone.

To mark the week, we’re pleased to share this local event that’s open to anyone in a caring role:

Carers Cuppa
Monday 9th June 2025
10:30am to 12:30pm
The Linney Centre (rear of shops), Weston Road, Balby

It's a relaxed space to pop in, have a brew, and a biscuit. Connect with others who understand the ups and downs of caring.
No need to book, just drop by.

For more info, call 01302 734567.

Please feel free to share with anyone who might benefit.
