🧡 Let’s see Bellamy from our underwater camera angle 👀💦 — and yes, we’re watching closely to see how he’s using his legs.
📷 Underwater footage helps us assess his gait, muscle engagement, and any areas of weakness or stiffness that might not be as visible on land.

So what do we do if we spot something?
💡 We adapt the session! That might mean adjusting things like motivation, targeted exercises, providing buoyancy support, or incorporating rest periods to ensure he’s working safely and effectively. Every dog is different — especially our wonderful seniors — so each session is carefully tailored to their needs. 🐶💙

📅 Book a session today and give your dog the comfort they deserve.

💜❤️ Remembrance Sunday ❤️💜

Today, we pause to remember not only the brave men and women who served, but also the countless animals who stood beside them. From loyal dogs and courageous horses to messenger pigeons and steadfast mules — their service, loyalty, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. ❤️💜

At Burtwood Canine Hydrotherapy, we hold a special place in our hearts for the animals who gave so much to protect and support others. 🌺

We will remember them — all of them. 🐕🐎🕊️

🎾 Happy National Fetch Day! 🐾
Today we’re celebrating the joy of fetch — that timeless game that brings out the zoomies, tail wags, and big smiles in our dogs.
But did you know that repetitive ball throwing on hard ground can put strain on your dog’s joints, especially if they’re prone to arthritis or injury?

💧 That’s where water fetch comes in!

At Burntwood Canine Hydro, we love incorporating ball play into our warm-water sessions. It’s fun, safe, and incredibly beneficial.

🌊 Why water fetch is better:

✅ Low-impact movement – Water cushions joints, reducing stress and risk of injury.

✅ Controlled excitement – Dogs still get the thrill of the chase, but in a safe environment.

✅ Muscle building – Swimming strengthens core and limb muscles without overloading them.

✅ Mental stimulation – Fetch in water keeps dogs engaged and happy.

✅ Joint-friendly fun – Perfect for dogs with arthritis, hip dysplasia, or recovering from surgery.

🎉 So this National Fetch Day, let’s celebrate smarter play — and give our dogs the joy of fetch without the wear and tear.

📅 Book a hydrotherapy session and let your dog fetch and smile their way to better health.

📢 Important Update for Pet Owners – Let’s Talk About the CMA Veterinary Care Report
At Burntwood Canine Hydro, we believe transparency and trust should be at the heart of every veterinary and rehabilitation service. That’s why we want to share our thoughts on the recent interim report from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) – and what it means for you and your pets.
🐾 The CMA’s investigation into the UK’s £6.3 billion veterinary sector has revealed serious concerns. The current regulatory system has been declared “not fit for purpose”, with calls for major reforms to protect pet owners from rising costs and lack of transparency.
📈 Shockingly, 3 of the UK’s 6 largest veterinary groups increased prices by 6–9% after acquiring independent practices. These hikes often come without clear communication, leaving pet owners struggling to afford essential care.
📅 The full CMA report is expected in the coming months, following further consultation. We hope it brings meaningful change and gives independent practices a stronger voice.
💬 At Burntwood, we remain proudly independent. We’re not part of any corporate chain, and we’re committed to keeping our pricing fair, our advice honest, and our care personal. We support the CMA’s push for:
- Clearer price lists and treatment options
- A cap on written prescription fees
- A national price comparison website to help owners make informed choices
🐶 Our hydrotherapy services are designed to support your dog’s recovery, mobility, and wellbeing—with compassion, expertise, and no hidden costs. We stand with other independent providers who put animal welfare before profit.
📍 Based on the border of Doncaster & Pontefract, we’re here for our community. If you have questions about your pet’s Rehabilitation care or want to know more about our services, just drop us a message or pop in for a chat.
Let’s keep veterinary care accessible, ethical, and focused on what matters most—our animals.

BURNTWOOD HYDRO

Burntwood Canine Hydrotherapy Centre is based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre, the home of the Equine Veterinary Centre, Gap Farm, Moorhouse, Doncaster, on the border of South & West Yorkshire with easy access to Doncaster, Barnsley, Pontefract, Wakefield, Sheffield and Leeds. We are close to J38 & J39 of the A1 and A638.

Burntwood Canine Hydro was established in 2007 in our purpose built centre in South Kirkby, Pontefract, but as our business grew we decided to relocate to a more rural setting at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre in 2019 where we have ample parking and facilities to meet our customer needs.

We have a dedicated and caring team with many years experience between us. All of our Hydrotherapists are fully qualified and we have the added benefit of a Veterinary Physiotherapist and Sports Massage Therapist, giving you a wide range of services all under one roof.

We work with over 80 referring Veterinary Practices from across our region so why not come and see why we are the pool of choice for so many vets.
