Here is why the first 4 weeks are the most important after ACL surgery…

ACL Rehab is like building a house. If you don’t build on good foundations….

Chances are the house will be a mess

In the first few weeks we have few milestones we want to hit

0-120 degree knee bend
SLR no lag
SL bridge
Minimal effusion

Dom is a semi professional footballer…

Now Dom has come in for a long standing groin injury which we have been treating now for 4 weeks.

In that time Dom has gone from being in pain for several months, to pain free running, and now progressing to on field rehab.

However when delving into Dom’s previous injury history, I noticed he had 3 high grade previous ankle ligament injuries on his Left ankle.

Now this becomes really apparent why when you watch his landing mechanics.

Watch how when Dom lands, he lands on his toe on his Left side trying to avoid loading the ankle joint in a Dorsi flexion position.

Now this is a compensatory pattern but a real issue. When you land on your toe rather than the ideal heel/toe pattern (as on his right), you are far more at risk of rolling your ankle.

Any contact to Dom when landing can cause a high velocity inversion mechanism and cause another serious ankle injury.

This explains why Dom has had 3 serious ankle injuries in 5 years and missed months out.

We’ve now integrated landing & plyometric mechanics into his programme & will make sure he severely reduces his risk of further ankle injuries.

This is a prime example of why you should go see a physiotherapist when you get injured so you don’t develop compensation mechanisms and end up with repeat injuries.

5 things I’ve learnt the hard way setting up my own business…

1. It’s 24/7… 365 days a year.

No clocking off at 5

There’s not a day gone by where the first thing I’ve thought about isn’t my business

You tell yourself to have time away and switch your phone off but it never happens

2. You feel guilty every single hour you’re not working on the business

I find myself getting agitated and aggy with myself when I’m out with my family at times like if I’m wasting time

In reality I’d go insane without that time

3. You never ever feel like you get done what you needed to do

Every morning I make a to do list and it actually gets bigger by the time I go bed 🤣

4. You need a good support network at home.

I’m so lucky I’ve got the best fiance who keeps the house running and takes care of the kids without me for 90% of the time while I’m at work

5. It’s the best job in the world.

For all the stress, headaches, sleepless nights and everything else..

Waking up every morning knowing it’s your business and the desire to build something special is something I wouldn’t change for anything

Week 6 post ACL & LCL reconstruction and hamstring repair… and is absolutely flying.

This is what happens when you start rehab properly from week 1.

Clear plan.

Proper coaching.

No guessing.

Harvey is a semi professional footballer & the goal is 9 months back playing.
And at the rate he’s going… he’ll smash that.

In this phase we’re working on building control, strength and confidence in that knee before we push into the next stage and look at return him back to running.

Chris came first came to see us after months of back & neck pain.

5 reasons your knee pain keeps coming back.
And it’s probably not the reason you think.

1ļøāƒ£ You stopped too early
Most people stop rehab the second the pain eases.
Pain-free doesn’t mean you’re strong enough yet.
That’s why it keeps returning when you try to run, squat, or train again.

2ļøāƒ£ You’re doing generic exercises
Stuff from Google. YouTube. TikTok.
Or the classic exercise sheet.
Your knee needs a plan that’s built for you, not a template.

3ļøāƒ£ You’re avoiding the movements you actually need
A lot of people avoid bending, loading, or
training the knee because they’re scared of making it worse.
But that avoidance usually makes things tighter, weaker, and more painful.

4ļøāƒ£ No progression
You can’t keep doing the same 3 exercises forever.
Recovery needs progression — load, speed, strength, control.
If it’s not progressing, neither will your knee.

5ļøāƒ£ You don’t understand the cause
Pain is the symptom.
The cause might be your hips, ankle mobility, strength imbalance, training habits…
Until you know why it’s happening, it’ll keep happening.

Knee pain isn’t something you just ā€œlive with.ā€
You just need the right plan, done properly, with
someone explaining it in a way that finally makes
sense.
