6 things I struggle with as a physio clinic owner… (That you don’t see on Instagram)

1. Juggling clinical & admin time.

I never want to turn clients away so I end up overbooking & leaving no time for admin. Often on the laptop at 11/12 o’clock at night

2. Time management

I eat breakfast in the car every morning and leave about 10 minutes for dinner everday after running over 🤣

3. CPD

I absolutely love CPD but I don’t get to do nowhere near as much CPD as I’d like due to being so busy in clinic

4. Family time

I feel guilty every single day for not spending as much time with the family as I want.

I’m lucky I have an amazing fiancé that keeps everything together I’d be absolutely lost without ❤️

5. Hiring the right people

I’ve found it incredibly hard to find the right staff to hire to take the load off myself and allow me to focus on the business

6. My health

I’ve never spent less time on my fitness, my health & looking after myself

Since March I’ve tried to train everyday which has been hard to find time but made me feel 100x better

Don’t let Instagram fool you into thinking everything is easy and perfect!

After a hip replacement in her 20s Steph came to us with nerve damage in her right leg, unable to put any weight through her leg and unable to move her foot.

If only I had a video of Steph when she first came in!! Her transformation has been amazing and to be able to see her improvement session on session is incredible.

Plenty more work to do but I can’t wait to see how far we can progress and get Steph back playing sports!

Injured? The first 48 hours are the most important in your recovery.

Here are 3 common mistakes people make.

1. Not getting the injury assessed.
Every injury is different and every injury needs different management. Does it need heat or ice? Do you need to brace or strap the injury? All of these will be able to be advised to you by a good physiotherapist.

2. Doing absolutely nothing.
Complete rest feels like you’re doing the right thing, but we still need to keep moving where it is safe to. Gentle pain free movement is key 🔑

3. Taking anti inflammatory tablets too soon.
This is one I see everyday in clinic. The first 48 hours of an acute injury you shouldn’t take any anti inflammatory medication. Inflammation is part of your body’s natural healing process and shutting it down can interfere with recovery.

Get this part right and you’ll recover faster ✅

3 most common mistakes of ACL Rehab

1. Not regaining range of movement

Range of movement is the foundation that your rehab builds on, particularly extension.

Failure to get full extension prevents your quads from fully coming back.

2. Not getting strong enough

We want an asymmetry of less then 10% between legs. Can you do 25 single leg squats? Single leg extension 1x your body weight?

3. Not enough or no plyometric work.

Think you can just go back to sport without any hopping or jumping? Think again.

This is the most missed part and undervalued process in ACL rehab and causes the most re ruptures that I see.

Operation get Jason back running underway 🔥

4 weeks down and Jase is making great progress. The limp is slowly disappearing as full extension is achieved.

We are currently progressing through a thorough loading programme ensuring no stone gets left unturned and Jase can return back to running which he hasn’t done for many years due to his knee pain.
