The lounge at Dunniwood Lodge Care Home in Bessacarr filled with harmonies last Thursday when the Tickhill Choir came to perform.

We visited York Castle Museum this week! 🏛️

We explored the recreated Victorian street, the 1960s galleries and displays that brought different eras to life. It was a lovely day learning something new and travelling somewhere different.

Museums spark stories, prompt conversation and stimulate the mind through storytelling and sensory experiences. Walking through familiar settings from the past can be particularly powerful for residents living with dementia, connecting them to their own life stories. 💚

Bun decorating in our weekly baking session this week. 🧁

There was lots of chatting, laughter and everyone enjoyed getting creative with icing and sprinkles.

Baking sessions like this support fine motor skills, spark conversation and give people a sense of achievement. We loved eating them afterwards with a cuppa too - they were delicious. ☺️

Our trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. 🦁

Linda, May, Christine and Deana joined Lee, Belinda and Olympia. For new resident Christine, it was a great way to meet everyone. Deana used to live nearby and remembers hearing the lions roaring at night from her house.

Outings like this spark stories, build friendships and create shared experiences that give everyone something to talk about for days after.

Halloween games in the morning followed by an afternoon bowling! 🎳

We had such a fun day with lots of laughter and friendly competition.

Building connections and confidence plays such an important role in living a meaningful life and we're proud to provide opportunities for both here at Dunniwood Lodge. 💚

Wednesday - Animal therapy and our hairdresser joins us
Thursday - We're taking a walk around the lakes
Friday - Crafting Halloween decorations

We had such a lovely time making Halloween decorations. 🎃👻

As we crafted, we shared wonderful memories of Halloween as children and taking our own children out trick-or-treating. You can see just how much joy the afternoon brought.

There's something special about arts and crafts sessions and the way they get the stories and laughter flowing.

We had the most wonderful day at Graves Park Farm. 🌿

The sun was shining, the animals were adorable and we enjoyed a lovely picnic surrounded by nature.

Outings like this are an important part of our Wellbeing Programme here at Dunniwood. They help our residents stay connected with the world, enjoy new experiences and spend quality time with one another.

A day out in Cleethorpes. 🌊🌞

Deanna and Christine enjoyed the mini bus journey, chatting about family holidays by the sea.

Once we arrived, we wandered along the promenade taking in the fresh sea air before we all tucked into a lovely lunch together.

Trips like this spark wonderful conversation and always bring smiles all round.
