🌞 Summer Reminiscence at Each Other Care.

As part of our Summer of Reminiscing, we’ve been revisiting holiday memories that shaped our residents’ lives and recreating those moments in our homes and beyond. From French holidays to seaside trips, these experiences have been brought back through food, music and themed events.

Research shows that reminiscence therapy sparks happy memories, boosts wellbeing and strengthen connections. For many, summer holidays are treasured experiences and revisiting them helps create meaningful moments for everyone who lives with us.

We can't wait to share our stories with you.

Congratulations Julie! 🌟

Congratulations to Julie, one of our enhanced carers at Dunniwood Lodge, who has won this month's Extra Mile Award. Since taking on more responsibilities, Julie's confidence has really grown and she continues to develop her skills every day.

🖼️ Decorating photo frames together.

This week our ladies enjoyed decorating photo frames while sharing stories about the photos they'd like to place inside. The conversations were full of memories, love and reflection.

Research shows that arts and crafts support emotional wellbeing, spark reminiscence and help people living in care express identity and purpose in meaningful ways. By combining creativity with conversation, we’re supporting both memory and connection, making time spent together even more valuable. ✨

🎉 Cynthia’s Birthday Lunch 🥂

Cynthia celebrated with a lovely lunch out, joined by friends including new resident Hilda.

Good food, a glass of wine and lots of laughter made it a day to remember. Happy Birthday, lovely lady. 🥰

📰 Reminiscing with old newspapers and books.

Christine and Cynthia enjoyed an afternoon looking through old newspapers and talking about their memories of Doncaster. Christine shared stories from her time working at Doncaster Courts, while Cynthia remembered her years at Peelers.

It was a wonderful chance to tell our stories and reminisce together. We're now looking at more ways we can bring history into our home. 🥰

We're proud to recognise team members Katrina and Dan as they take on the 8.5km Memory Walk on 28th September for Alzheimer's Society.

This is their third year walking together for a cause very close to their hearts, showing their commitment and dedication that shines through in everything they do here at Dunniwood.

What a day! Summer Fair at Dunniwood Lodge. 🎉

We welcomed the fabulous All That Jazz dance school who performed for us, enjoyed a delicious buffet, tried our luck at the tombola and loved having families celebrate with us.

Community events like these provide opportunities for new friendships, experiences and more smiles here at Dunniwood Lodge.

Thanks to All That Jazz and all the families who joined us to make it a day to remember! ☀️
