📣 Use of paracetamol during pregnancy remains safe and there is no evidence it causes autism in children.

Paracetamol remains the NHS-recommended painkiller during pregnancy, when used as directed – which is at the lowest effective dose, for the shortest time needed.

Our advice is based on rigorous assessment of the best available evidence, and we continuously monitor new data to ensure our recommendations remain safe and up to date.

If you ever suspect a side effect from any medicine, please report it to us through the Yellow Card scheme – this helps us keep medicines safe for everyone.

📢Important Information for Patients on HRT or Contraceptive Pills & Taking Mounjaro 💉💊

We’d like to share an important update from the British Menopause Society that may affect some of our patients. 💬

➡️If you're on HRT and take a progesterone tablet, please note:

📌Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections may reduce the absorption of oral progesterone, especially when:
• Starting the injection
• Increasing the dose

⚠️This could lead to unexpected bleeding or thickening of the womb lining.

👉To stay safe, you may need a higher dose of progesterone for 4 weeks after starting or increasing Mounjaro.

➡️If you’re on the contraceptive pill, Mounjaro may also affect its effectiveness.

🛑It’s recommended to use an additional barrier method (e.g. condoms) for 4 weeks after starting or changing your dose.

We’re currently reviewing and advising patients who may be affected. However, we aren’t always notified if patients are accessing Mounjaro privately or online.
