“It’s just a trend…”

We hear this sometimes — and it’s easy to assume.

Floatation therapy feels like something new.

But it’s actually been around for decades.

Float tanks were first developed in the 1950s,
and have been used ever since for relaxation, recovery, and research.

Athletes use it.
Busy professionals rely on it.
People use it to support sleep, stress, and overall wellbeing.

So while it might be growing in popularity now…

It’s far from a passing trend.

Sometimes the things that feel “new”
are just things more people are finally discovering.

“Won’t the salt ruin my hair?”

Another one we hear alot!

But the reality might surprise you…

Epsom salt isn’t harsh or damaging — it’s actually known for its benefits.

Magnesium (which Epsom salt is made from) can help:

• Gently remove excess oils and product build-up
• Add a bit of natural volume and texture
• Leave hair feeling lighter and cleaner

And because you shower before and after your float,
it doesn’t sit in your hair long enough to cause any dryness.

In fact, many people come out saying their hair feels completely normal — or even better than before.

So while it might sound like it would be drying…

It’s actually a lot gentler than people expect.

If this has ever been something that’s put you off…
you might be surprised.

“I’ll sink…”

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about FLOAT-ation therapy.

And it makes sense — if you’ve never tried it, you’d expect to have to hold yourself up or stay afloat.

But the reality is completely different.

The water is filled with a very high concentration of Epsom salt — over 250kg in each pod.

This makes your body naturally buoyant.

So instead of sinking…
you float effortlessly.

No effort.
No trying to stay above the water.
No need to move at all.

Your body is fully supported from the moment you lie back.

For many people, it’s the first time they’ve ever felt completely weightless.

And that’s where the real relaxation begins.

If this has ever been something that’s put you off…
you might be surprised how easy it actually feels.

“Why 90 minutes feels completely different to 60…”

A lot of people book a 60 minute float for their first session.

And that’s a great place to start.

But what many don’t realise…
is how beneficial a 90 minute float session is for the first time!

In the first 15–20 minutes, your mind is still settling.

You’re adjusting...
thinking...
becoming aware of the space....

Then your body starts to relax.

Your breathing slows.
Your muscles begin to fully switch off.

And just as you reach that deeper level of calm…

The session comes to an end!

With 90 minutes, you don’t just reach that state…

You get time to stay there.
To enjoy.
To fully switch off.
To properly drift.
To let your body and mind reset without rushing.

It’s not about longer for 'the sake of it'.

It’s about giving yourself enough time
to experience the part people come back for.

If you’ve only ever tried 60 minutes…
90 might surprise you.

“Is it dirty?”

This is one of the most common questions we get.

And honestly… it’s a fair one.

But here’s what most people don’t realise 👇

The water in a float pod is fully filtered and sanitised between every single session.

It passes through a high-grade filtration system multiple times, and is treated to keep it clean, balanced and safe, a bit like looking after a hot tub, but even cleaner!

In fact, the water is often cleaner than a swimming pool.

The water is also naturally antimicrobial, thanks to over 250kg of Epsom salt, which helps keep it clean and inhospitable to bacteria.

So while it might look like you’re just stepping into a pod…

Behind the scenes, there’s a lot happening to make sure every float session is as clean and comfortable as possible.

If this has ever been something that’s put you off…

You’re definitely not the only one — but the reality might surprise you.

“It’s just lying in salty water…”

Yep, another one we hear all the time

And on the surface… it might look that way.

But what’s actually happening is something completely different.

When you float, your body is fully supported —
your muscles don’t have to work,
your spine decompresses,
and your nervous system finally gets a break.

No pressure.
No noise.
No constant stimulation.

Just space for your body and mind to reset.

“I can’t switch off my brain… I have ADHD”

We hear this a lot.

And if your mind is always busy, always thinking, always moving…
it can feel like relaxation just isn’t for you.

But here’s the thing…

You don’t have to switch your brain off.

You don’t need to “do it right”
or force yourself to be calm.

In a float, there’s nothing pulling at your attention.

No noise.
No screens.
No constant stimulation.

And for many people with ADHD…
that’s where something really interesting happens.

Without anything demanding your focus,
the brain finally gets a break.

Instead of being pulled in ten different directions…
it can slow down naturally.

Not forced. Not controlled.
Just… quieter.

A lot of people are surprised by how much they actually enjoy that feeling.

That sense of calm, space, and stillness
that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Some people drift.
Some people think.
Some people just rest.

And all of it is completely okay.

If you’ve ever felt like relaxation “doesn’t work” for you…

this might be the one place it actually does.

“It’s pitch black and scary…”

We hear this one a lot.

And it’s completely understandable — the idea of being in total darkness can feel a bit intimidating at first.

But here’s what most people don’t realise…

You’re always in control.

You can choose to have the lights on, off, or softly glowing throughout your session.

Nothing is forced, and there’s no “right” way to float.

Some people start with the lights on and gradually turn them off…
others keep a soft glow the whole time.

It’s your space, your experience.

And for many people, what feels unfamiliar at first quickly becomes one of the most calming parts of the whole session.
