So it looks like the secret is out 👀

In 2004, 16 Years ago I acquired the keys for 14a Main Street, to start developing a dream of mine. Having been in the beauty business for over 20 years and owning smaller salons and working independently, I envisaged a large luxurious salon in Sprotbrough Village.
The property was in desperate need of some TLC it had previously been offices and now I wanted to convert it into a luxurious beauty salon. But before I could start with ‘pretties’ we needed to partition rooms, add a fire alarm system, an integral music system, suspend some ceilings, new lighting, new boiler, new flooring, and re wiring! So a lot of hard work over the Christmas period and a hefty business loan! The dream became a reality. Blush opened it’s doors .....
Opening in January 2004 and bringing with me 3 staff from my previous salon, in Bawtry I also recruited more members of staff. We had an amazing response to the salon and with the yoga studio and relaxation room,
Blush soon became a favourite salon for many in Sprotbrough.
Over a period of 13 years we utilised the enormous space we had with many different business ideas. We also had a name and brand change when we opened a coffee shop downstairs, we became Vintage. With also a Vintage clothes shop and lastly a Blow dry bar. The business was a great success, although I did find running a large salon took me away from my main passion of spending time with my clients.
My daughter, Alicia joined the business, as the business manager after graduating in Events and Business management. This helped so much with the day to day running of the salon and also promoting and moving the business forward. She quickly became my right hand women:)
But after 13 hectic years I wanted to concentrate on my passion of skincare, facials and permanent make up. Also, Alicia has branched out into training and became a make up artist and was interested in building a business around this. So the hard decision to let the large premises go and come back to basics was made.
At this point I would like to thank all the loyal clients that have followed me on this journey. Also the many members of staff I employed, trained and mentored who have grown to be successful in their own careers and businesses as therapists and hairdressers. Not forgetting my amazing daughter Alicia who has always been a tremendous support and I could not of achieved all of this without her.
So Vintage Sprotbrough closed in May 2017 and in Oct 2017 Alicia and I opened ‘Alicia Mae’ in Warmsworth. This beautiful little building is steeped in local history and was originally a blacksmiths. Many people know it as the little white house, know with a pink door :)
We have created an intimate, friendly, beautiful salon. We have had tremendous support from existing clients and also local passing new clients, which I am very thankful for.
2 1/2 years on our salon as grown and we could not be happier. I specialise in facials and skincare, also permanent make up. Alicia’s make up and lashing business is growing rapidly.
I believe that every experience on your journey, whether good or bad is a big learning curve. I have made mistakes but also achieved so much, ultimately the amazing friendships created with my clients. So I look forward to the next 13 years
I promise I will be writing the book soon ‘ The Life and Times of a Beauty Therapist ‘ so much to share ........
