Residents enjoyed a morning of quizzes and word games all themed around Scotland. It was lovely to learn more about Robert Burns and the traditions behind the celebration. We listened to the Address to a Haggis before enjoying a traditional lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by a delicious cranachan.

In the afternoon, we listened to traditional Scottish bagpipe music and had lots of fun playing Pin the Tail on the Highland Cow! Everyone loved dressing up in tartan, which really helped to brighten the room and added to the celebratory atmosphere.🤗

Residents enjoyed a lovely art afternoon, painting winter scenes and experimenting with salt to add texture and form. There were lots of different interpretations and some beautiful creations to brighten these dark winter months.☀️

We had a fantastic morning of music with Chelsea Ball today who entertained us with a wonderful selection of music from the 50s through to the 70s.🎶

Everyone loved the variety of songs from shows, pop charts and disco, which resulted in a dance-off! 🕺🏾

Residents had a jolly afternoon creating beautiful floral displays 🌷
The perfect way to brighten the home now the Christmas decorations are down. Flowers really do lift everyone’s spirits 💐

We were delighted to be invited to Sunninghill School’s Christmas Carol Service last week at St Peter’s Church.⛪️

The pupils all performed beautifully and the music was the perfect way to get us into the Christmas spirit.🎄

It’s great to be able to ‘buddy’ up with the school children in a variety of activities during the year and we look forward to more time together in 2026!❤️

The parachute game is always a popular one at Glencairn!

Not only does it offer gentle, full-body exercise which helps to improve coordination, it also boosts social skills, builds trust and lifts spirits through fun, laughter, and shared experiences.

This was a vibrant and energetic session which soon turned into complete chaos with balls flying in all directions! 🤣 🥎

We had the cutest visitors today… a whole cluster of guinea pigs! 🐹
Our local animal sanctuary stopped by and brought plenty of squeaks, cuddles, and smiles.
Residents loved holding and brushing them, they even popped into a few rooms for one-to-one visits. Such a lovely afternoon! ✨

This week Janet and Marcus have been out in the garden getting it ready for winter. ❄️💐

Janet has a keen interest in gardening and thoroughly enjoys it when our wonderful gardener, Marcus, visits to help her with her projects. 🩷

This time they were planting a fantastic collection of spring bulbs as well as some cyclamen to brighten up the dreary winter days!

Thank you, Marcus, for helping create a beautiful outside environment for our residents to enjoy all year round.🌷

This week, our home came together to prepare for Remembrance 2025❤️

Residents began by crafting poppies to wear in honour of those who gave their lives in conflict.❤️
A beautiful flower arranging afternoon followed, with red and white displays symbolising remembrance and peace, now placed around the home for all to enjoy.💐
On Friday, we were joined by Lay Minister Allen for a moving Remembrance service. Together, we read the roll of honour of relatives lost in WWI and WWII, listened to “In Flanders Fields”, and sang “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”.

Tomorrow, residents will gather to watch the live service from the Cenotaph, reflecting and remembering with the nation.🫶🏻

Our team got hands-on practice using fire extinguishers 🧯We take training seriously and staying up to date with best practice is a top priority for us.
