Our wonderful neonatal nurse Sarah is walking in Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ to raise money to add to our parents accommodation fund!
We are incredibly lucky to have 4 fantastic parents rooms on SCBU, but we want to make all of them en-suite to ensure the most comfortable stay possible for parents who stay with us.
Thank you, and good luck Sarah!! πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ β˜€οΈ

Today my work colleague Martin and myself popped along to Dorset County Hospital to do a cheque presentation to Dorchester Special Care Baby Unit. Before Christmas, Martin and his Partner, Hannah, who is also a work colleague had the best care from the ward when their daughter, Daisy, decided to make an early entrance into the world. Daisy was in SCBU for 11 weeks and is now home.
We also donated some tiny baby suits, to help support the premature babies on the ward.
The money was raised from our Book Donation Stand in store 🀩

Thank you Thursday! πŸ™Today we’d like to say thank you the Ladies in Wey-ting who have donated Β£330 to our wonderful Dorchester Special Care Baby Unit . πŸ’™

Sue-Jane from Ladies in Wey-ting said, β€œWe Ladies have always felt the importance of donating to different departments of DCH as much as possible...just to make a little difference. We chose to support SCBU in memory of two precious Angel Babies that are very close to us. Seeing how the wonderful work & care is taken in treating tiny babies born with difficulties in SCBU, it is such an important cause to help these beautiful little ones & their families.”

Ladies in Wey-ting is a small group who give their free time to support local worthwhile causes, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support. Thank you!

Sometimes breastfeeding in NICU and SCBU looks a little different. When babies are born early or unwell they may need extra support with their feeding.
Babies can receive breastmilk in many ways, with every drop being so valuable πŸ‘Ά

- tube feeding
- syringe feeds
- finger feeding
- dummy dips
- mouth cares
- breastfeeding
- cup feeding
- hand expressing
- pumping
- bottle feeding EBM
- using donor milk
- combination feeding

Whatever your feeding journey looks like, we aim to support you to achieve your goals in an informed and judgment free way πŸ’œ
