Our aim at the Prince of Wales Surgery is to provide comprehensive, friendly, professional and personal service, with time to discuss our patients’ healthcare concerns. We endeavour to make it easy for our patients to make an appointment to see their doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional. We intend to be part of our local community and a centre for excellence in the provision of primary healthcare, with in-house provision of a range of medical services. Saving lives by teaching others to save lives.We are committed and dedicated to providing higher professional standards for qualified doctors and medical students. You may occasionally have consultations with one of these doctors under direct supervision. We will provide these services by maintaining an efficient and user-friendly business. You are able to register with the Practice by asking at reception or by using our online form. Gluten-Free Foods on Prescription

There has been a change to NHS Dorset’s commissioning policy regarding the gluten-free foods. The difficult decision has been made to remove gluten-free foods from the Dorset Medicines Formulary, which means these products will no longer be available on prescription. The decision was ratified by the Dorset Integrated Medicines Optimisation in August 2025 following a public consultation which considered a range of both clinical and social factors, including the wider availability of gluten-free products in food shops (both physical and online), and the need to ensure we deliver best value for money. If someone in receipt of gluten-free prescribed foods and feels there is an exceptional medical reason to receive gluten-free foods on prescription, it is possible to apply for an Individual Funding Request (IFR) via their GP practice. NHS Dorset has asked GP teams to stop supplying gluten-free foods on prescription. This decision has been made after careful consideration, and is in line with national guidance and changes to gluten-free product prescribing occurring in other areas of the country. It's a fantastic cause so and we intend to look ridiculous so if you would like to pop in and see us and are in a position to donate we'd be grateful.
