We at Surrey Green Burials are delighted to share the great news!
It has taken a year to get the point we are at now, but we are submitting plans for a 14 acres Natural Burial Ground and 4 acres of Woodland of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Dorking!
Our grounds will be called Surrey Green Natural Burial Ground.
Below are some of the exciting details we will be wanting introducing on our Natural Burial Ground (all are subject to the planning that is agreed by the council):
• The grounds will have a large Burial Ground for families. We will be able to offer Interment for Ashes, Pet Burials, Interment of Ashes for Pets and Scattering of Ashes Garden.
• We will be building a pavilion into the sloping hill made of English Oak with large floor to ceiling windows offering a 360 panoramic view overlooking the land.
• There will be a large pond built for wildlife, wildflowers and an outstanding rose garden created where you will be able to walk around and reflect on your loved ones.
• Our Rose Garden will have its very own building, where you may sit and reflect on your loved ones, with hot drinks available.
• Trees will be planted on our burial site and rewilding of native wildflowers seeds will be looked at with the seasons.
• Bird boxes will be dotted around the grounds for wildlife, and we will have a few bee hives around our grounds, which will help the wildflowers.
• Rainwater will be collected for use by watering our plants around our grounds.
• Toilet facilities will be available on site. Parking will be available near the entrance of our Burials Grounds.
• There will be staff on site to assist anyone who requires, with golf buggies available for transport for anyone who needs help with transport around the grounds.
These new grounds will create more work opportunities for people in the surrounding area as our grounds will be maintained 5 days a week, with staff on site and ground maintenance.
