The people who live with us at Deepdene enjoyed celebrating the Summer Solstice. Activities in preparation for the day included creating flower bands, a More...Creativity art session painting a Stonehenge picture and making fresh fruit platters.

Fruit platters with ice cream, Pims fruit punch and a selfie photo booth were highlights of the Summer Solstice garden party. Everyone enjoyed the sunshine and More...Fresh Air out in our garden, singing sunshine themed songs with good company and chat.

At Deepdene, it is lovely to be able to host special occasions in our new hospitality suite!

Doreen and Christine share a birthday on the same day. They were the first to take advantage of the new hospitality suite, having a joint party with family and friends. Alec enjoyed a delicious birthday lunch with his daughter and a friend. Jack celebrated his birthday with a party with his wife and family and friends.
Everyone had a great time and loved our new facilities!

The people who live with us at Deepdene had a wonderful time joining in events to commemorate the 80th VE Day. They enjoyed an afternoon tea with a celebration cake made by the chef. During the afternoon a special guest from Dorking museum gave an interesting talk about Dorking in wartime. Regular entertainer Linley led a fun wartime sing-along. The highlight of the week was joining in with Dorking VE Day 80 celebrations on Dorking high street. They enjoyed songs from the era and the Rampant Roosters morris dancers. Some of the residents and staff took up the invitation to join in one of the dances. They had a lovely outing, enjoying the sunshine and the entertainment.

Deepdene was filled with fun, cuddles, and soft paws for Easter, as we welcomed some adorable guests - two playful lambs, cuddly bunnies, chirpy chicks, and the most curious pig who kept everyone entertained as it scurried around the room. The people who live with us, along with our team, had a fantastic time - from feeding the lambs to petting the bunnies and carefully holding the chicks. The little pig stole the show and the lambs had their fun trotting about. It's amazing how the presence of animals can bring such joy.

The people who live with us at Deepdene learned about the South American custom of making Easter pinata.

They had fun getting messy making their own pinatas with balloons covered in papier mache. After being painted and decorated with Easter pictures the pinata were filled with painted eggs and chocolate prizes.

It was great fun breaking the pinatas to get at the prizes inside!

Ray, Jennifer, Pat and Margaret accompanied by staff from Deepdene had a lovely outing to Squires Garden Centre. They enjoyed travelling there by minibus from Driving Miss Daisy.

Everyone had a great time looking at all the beautiful summer flowers and shopping for plants. Jennifer is very fond of orchids and she grows them in her room, so she was pleased to see a wonderful display of orchids. They topped off an enjoyable afternoon with refreshments in the garden centre cafe.

This week four of the ladies who live with us at Deepdene had a lovely trip out to Dorking Halls cafe for afternoon tea.

There were many cakes to choose from and the choice was difficult but they got there. Paired with a hot drink and a good natter, they had a great time.
