What a Tuesday we had today at Dorking Manor. We had the pleasure of spoiling our wonderful Angela as she celebrated her 100th Birthday. From the moment she sat down to breakfast she wore her 100 year tiara 👑 with pride. The quote for the day was from Angela herself “ When I was 10 years old I remember telling my father that I would one day be 100 years old …… and here I am”. Happy 100 Birthday Angela from us all ###

☀️🌴 Bringing the Caribbean to Dorking Manor Care Home 🌴☀️

This January, residents at Dorking Manor Care Home enjoyed a taste of the tropics with a fun Caribbean-themed day! Colourful cocktails, lively music, and cheerful conversation helped lift spirits as residents reminisced about favourite sunny destinations and past holidays abroad - all without leaving the home. 🍹🎶✨

We had our own mini film festival this afternoon as it was the beginning of the Sundance film festival and also the announcement of the Oscar nominations. We watched 6 short films and they went down very well. We started off with the famous Pearl & Dean intro..:: if you know you know.

We had the pleasure of a visit from Dorking fire brigade this morning to give us a talk on fire safety. It was very informative and went down very well. After the talk we were given the opportunity to have a look around the fire engine and even sit up front. One of our residents Ann had her wish come true and with the help from fireman Sid she got to sit in the driving seat. Thank you so much to James, Sid, Luke and John you do an amazing job and we really appreciate your time.

A peaceful day today at Dorking some gentle walking in the garden this morning followed by a coffee. This afternoon we had a guess the celebrity quiz, which was enjoyed by all. In between we had some reminiscing using some old coins that Kirstyn brought from home. Lots of memories of farthings, florins, shillings, and old pennies. Many people remembered having pocket money and apparently 2 farthings could get you a bag of sweets and a cinema ticket. Those were the days!

Games galore this morning and some seriously competitive teams here at Dorking Manor. Three rounds of tense gameplay. We began with skittles, curling and power curling 🥌. It went right to the wire with Pat & David starting off badly with Ann & Belinda zooming ahead only to be over taken in the final by Pat & David. Well done all players.
