We are proud to share that Medwyn Occupational Health has been successfully reaccredited by SEQOHS (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service).

We have held SEQOHS accreditation continuously since 2014, and this latest reaccreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, effective and high-quality occupational health services.

SEQOHS is the industry standard for occupational health services, recognised across both the public and private sectors. It provides an independent assessment of providers against nationally agreed standards of safety, effectiveness and quality. The standards were revised and re-launched in 2023, with increased emphasis on measurable outcomes, value and continuous improvement.

For our clients, this means confidence - confidence that our clinical advice is evidence-based and consistent, that our governance and systems are robust, and that our services are delivered to nationally recognised, up-to-date standards. In close collaboration with Sherrards Employment Law Solicitors, Medwyn Occupational Health is running two free seminars on the topical subject of how to manage the impact of menopause in the workplace.

The seminars will be presented by two Medwyn Occupational Health doctors - Dr Stewart Tomlinson, Medical Director and Dr Louise Tomei. Lorraine Sherrard will take you through some of the HR areas that you should consider as a menopause-friendly employer and Harry Sherrard will cover all legal aspects.

Each seminar will cover exactly the same content, we are simply running the seminars at two different venues.

In Britain, ministers can designate an illness as an occupational disease subject to guidance from the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council, an independent body, which assesses the evidence. Analysis finds more than 10 million sickness certificates were given out in the last 12 months, including more than 800,000 for stress.

The number of fit notes issued to workers on sick leave has hit an all-time high, analysis has found, with the number given out jumping more than 20 per cent in the last year.

Research conducted by law firm GQ|Littler, based on NHS data for the year-ending March 2022, showed a 21 per cent yearly increase in the number of fit notes – up to 10.4 million from the 8.6 million issued in 2020/21.

The analysis also found a 7 per cent increase in stress-related fit notes – up from 755,000 in 2020/21 to 808,000 in 2021/22.
