❤️ A Little Hercher Family History… Can You Help? ❤️

Many of you will know that Hercher’s Funfair has been part of Dornoch Highland Games for generations — bringing lights, laughter, rides, sweets, excitement and so many childhood memories to the Games field.

For our family, the Games have always been more than just an event. They are part of who we are.

Sadly, many of our old Hercher family photographs were lost years ago when my Nana’s wagon went on fire. So many precious memories, old fairground photos and family pictures from years gone by were lost.

We would absolutely love to build up some of that history again.

If anyone has any old photographs of Hercher’s Funfair at Dornoch Highland Games, or photos from the Games where the fairground can be seen in the background, we would be so grateful if you could share them with us.

They don’t have to be perfect — old family snapshots, pictures from the field, children on the rides, the stalls, the lights, the wagons, anything at all would mean so much.

The Games are full of history, and so many families have their own memories tied to Dornoch Games Day. We would love to see yours. ❤️

For over a century, the Hercher family has been part of the tradition and atmosphere of the Dornoch Highland Games ❤️

Many locals and visitors over the years will remember the famous Hercher’s amusements and rides bringing excitement, laughter and unforgettable memories to generations attending the Games.

What many people may not know is that the connection runs even deeper for me personally — the Games have always been part of my family history growing up, with stories passed down through generations about the people, visitors and traditions that made Dornoch Games so special 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Even now, it’s incredible to think that after all these years, the Hercher name is still proudly connected to the Games in 2026.

That’s what makes Highland Games so unique ❤️
It’s not just an event… it’s generations of families, memories, friendships and tradition continuing year after year.
