Today’s shift took a turn… high tea in pyjamas ☕🛌😂

One minute we’re doing care duties, next minute we’re in fluffy PJs serving tea like we’re on Downton Abbey… just with more missing cake and someone shouting “who’s got my slippers?!”

Care staff: trained professionals by day, chaotic tea party hosts by… also day 😅

🌟Trusted by Families. Rated by Those Who Know Us Best. 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to share that Caring Homes has once again been named one of the Top 20 Care Home Groups in the UK by carehome.co.uk 🏆

What makes this award so special? It’s based entirely on independent reviews from residents and their families. No judging panels, just real experiences from people who have trusted us with the care of someone they love.

For families searching for care, this recognition offers something truly important:
• Genuine reassurance from those who’ve experienced our care first-hand
• Confidence in the compassion and professionalism of our teams
• Trust in safe, welcoming environments where dignity and respect come first

Choosing care is never just practical, it’s deeply personal. We’re honoured that so many families have shared their positive experiences and helped us achieve this recognition once again. 💜

Thank you to our wonderful residents, families and teams who make this possible every day.

🍽️ Supporting Residents with Dysphagia – With Skill, Care and Creativity

Last week, our Head Chefs came together for an advanced training workshop focused on supporting residents who live with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). The session was led by Andy Cullum, National Trainer for International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), giving our chefs the opportunity to further enhance their knowledge and practical skills.

So what does this mean for residents and families?

✔️ Safer dining experiences, reducing the risks associated with swallowing difficulties
✔️ Meals tailored precisely to individual texture needs using the IDDSI framework
✔️ Food that remains nutritious, recognisable and beautifully presented
✔️ Encouraging residents to eat with confidence, pleasure and dignity

From recreating full traditional meals across multiple texture levels to learning how to test consistency accurately, the workshop reinforced how creativity and consistency work hand-in-hand to deliver truly person-centred care.

Because mealtimes should always be something to enjoy 💜

This National Apprenticeship Week we’re celebrating the incredible team members who continue to grow with us.

At Caring Homes, apprenticeships aren’t about starting from scratch, they’re about supporting our existing teams to build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and develop skills for life, all while continuing in their roles.

From leadership and management to specialist care pathways, ongoing learning helps our teams feel supported and that means our residents benefit from experienced, knowledgeable and familiar faces every day.

💙 Keeping Healthy in Older Age 💙

In the last of our videos on nursing care this month, we wanted to highlight that sometimes, the biggest difference nursing care makes is in the confidence it gives, to residents and to their families.

This case study shows how the right nursing support, at the right time, helped improve one resident’s health and wellbeing, allowing them to feel more settled, supported and secure.

Cake alert 🚨
The cake trolley has arrived, and it’s making its rounds 🎂
Warning : approaching may cause sudden happiness, spontaneous cake debates and serious fork-to-mouth coordination.
Come grab a slice before it mysteriously disappears.. ( we don’t know where it goes , it’s like cake magic 😁)

💙 Keeping Healthy in Older Age 💙

Good nursing care isn’t just about treatment, it’s about helping people live well, day to day.

Across our homes, our nurses support residents to manage health conditions while still enjoying the routines, activities and moments that matter most to them. Whether it’s pain management, medication support or simply being there for reassurance, nursing care plays a quiet but powerful role in everyday life.
