Victoria Randall Counselling

Victoria Randall Counselling We can often find ourselves in situations and be left wondering “how did I get here?” and feel stuck, looking for a way to move forward.

Counselling is a time for you to talk with a professional about issues, thoughts and feelings that are causing you distress, in a safe and non-judgemental space. If you are reading this then I guess you are struggling with some aspects of your life and may be finding it hard to cope with some difficult thoughts and feelings which may be leaving you feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or confused.

I believe everyone has an inner capacity for growth and to make changes and this is where counselling can help. Counselling can assist you in understanding what is going on within you and to help you come to terms with those sometimes painful and uncomfortable feelings with an increasing self-awareness. If you are considering counselling please get in to touch to arrange a free initial 30 minute session so that we can meet and help you decide your next step.

For anyone that needs this.

May marks the start of something I feel needs to be talked about as much as possible. I started this account in 2019 at one of my lowest points, I didn’t think I added anything to the world, I didn’t feel I had any light in my future, I had all but given up on myself. I was embarrassed by the way my brain worked, it was only through sharing on here I began to realize the thoughts in my head were just that, thoughts. With no facts, no substance. I just hope through these drawings I can make anyone feeling low know they aren’t alone, and I hope I can give you hope, that tomorrow can be brighter. One day tomorrow won’t feel impossible.

You are so much brighter than your darkest thoughts, and stronger than you ever thought possible. And most importantly, you are loved. Never ever forget that.

Understanding the body as a part of trauma treatment is vital because it took us decades to discover post-traumatic stress disorder is really a body issue. This is why, for all the years we encouraged people to talk about what had happened to them, and promised them it would set them free, it didn’t always. Often telling and retelling the story of what happened made things worse. Bessel van der Kolk was one of the experts who got very curious about the fact that just talking about the events wasn’t having the effect that Freud promised us it would have. Freud had actually believed that someday a physiological explanation would be made for all the things he described such as the id, ego, and super-ego. Turns out Freud was right too. Over the years, Bessel van der Kolk began to conduct research to prove that the body more than the mind was keeping post-traumatic stress disorders locked and loaded. Therefore, these days, we desperately need a deep understanding of the body in order to carry out our treatment.
