On Friday afternoons Sandra plays piano for the residents at Fairmile Grange, and everyone looks forward to her visits.

This week was especially lively, with Eric and Shashi getting up to dance and everyone joined in and sang along to their favourite songs. Sandra ended the afternoon by singing happy birthday to Madge, and everyone joined her as the Wellbeing team presented Madge with her cake.

To Madge’s delight, little Hannah and her sisters stepped in to celebrate with her. It was a sweet moment, especially since Hannah was also celebrating her own birthday. At just three years old, she has many years ahead before she can catch up with Madge.

Madge’s Birthday Part Two:

Madge always enjoys it when Sandra brings her Shining Stars to visit the residents at Fairmile Grange, and having them there on her birthday made the day even more special.

The children arrived with handmade cards and presents for her, and they were excited to sing happy birthday. From the smile on her face, it was clear that Madge loved every minute of their visit.

Madge’s birthday part one

It was a fantastic day at Fairmile Grange as everyone came together to celebrate Madge’s 104th birthday. Residents and staff were eager to make her day unforgettable. As well as celebrating with other residents and the team on duty, Madge welcomed a steady stream of visitors, and the highlight of her wonderful day was celebrating with her family who brought in her favourite take away.

Sandra’s Shining Stars also joined the festivities, and several team members who were not on duty came in just to wish her a happy birthday and give her cards and presents. Dan the chef prepared her favourite cake, and Madge was crowned Queen of Fairmile Grange for the day.

At Fairmile Grange it is important that all residents (including those who are unable to come out of their room) get one to one time for activities. The Wellbeing Team do everything they can to make these activities varied and something that the resident will enjoy.

Today Madge decided to learn how to play the drums using the Happiness Project magic table projector, this allows residents to simulate a variety of activities including playing the drums sweeping leaves, answering quizzes and much more. As you can see Madge was very focused on creating her own drum beat.

As well as ensuring residents at Fairmile Grange get to enjoy a wonderful range of activities and entertainment the wellbeing team enjoy putting together fund raisers for a variety of charities and on Friday a lovely morning was had by all with a Home Bake Sale for Children In Need - a fantastic £60 was raised for this wonderful & worthy cause ❤ A big thank you to everyone that contributed cakes & bakes as well as those who bought to raise funds ❤

✨ National Button Day at Fairmile Grange ✨
For National Button Day, the residents at Fairmile Grange had a wonderful time creating beautiful Christmas cards with brightly coloured buttons for their families and friends.

The morning was relaxing and fun, especially after the lovely Joan suggested that everyone might enjoy a little Tchaikovsky while crafting — The Nutcracker proved to be the perfect choice.

Did you know? The National Button Society was founded in 1938 as a celebration for everyone who enjoys collecting and crafting with buttons. Do you remember your mother or grandmother keeping a button tin?

Fairmile Grange residents enjoyed a wonderful visit from Curly yesterday to help celebrate Remembrance Day. 🌺

Curly performed his popular Cockney Sing-a-long Show, a lively and heartfelt presentation about World War One and World War Two. The residents had a fantastic time reminiscing about the old music halls they used to visit in their youth, sharing memories, and singing along to all the classic songs they know and love. 🎶

It was a truly special afternoon filled with nostalgia, laughter, and remembrance. ❤️

🐻💛 Happy National Hug a Bear Day!💛🐻

A hug is makes everyone feel warm inside and Fairmile Grange’s lovely resident Barbara proudly introduced her favourite teddy bear Mr Cuddly to some other residents, and before long, he was passed around for plenty of hugs and beaming smiles.

There were smiles all around as residents reminisced about their own childhood teddies and shared stories of their beloved bears. It was a heartwarming day full of laughter, cuddles, and a reminder that you’re never too old for a teddy bear hug!
