Scars tell a story.
But they don’t have to be the final chapter.

The first image shows active redness and early scar tissue.
The second shows softened texture, calmer colour and healthier remodelling after a carefully planned course of treatment.

Scar work isn’t about “zapping” the surface.
It’s about stimulating new collagen to rebuild properly, reducing inflammation and improving colour and texture gradually and safely.

And sometimes it’s about making that treatment accessible.

Our ProBono Aesthetics scheme in collaboration with .digital is specifically for individuals with more significant scarring, such as:

• Surgical scarring (including post-cancer surgery)
• Trauma-related scars (accidents, injuries)
• Hospital or medically related procedures
• Life-altering skin changes that carry emotional impact

This pathway is reserved for cases where scarring has had a genuine life impact and financial access is a barrier and we allocate a percentage of our diary to this work each month.

Microneedling - but let’s address the question everyone is actually thinking…

Does it hurt?

Short answer: not really.
Honest answer: it depends on your tolerance, but it’s far more manageable than most people expect.

We don’t routinely numb. Yes, because it’s generally very tolerable and the treatment is quick… but also because the tiny, controlled inflammatory response is part of what stimulates collagen. That response is exactly what we want your skin to do. In some cases, heavy numbing can slightly dampen that process.

You’ll feel vibration, warmth, and a bit of scratchiness - not agony, not dramatic, not “why did I book this?” energy.

The bigger picture?
Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin to trigger repair and collagen production. That’s where the real results come from - texture, fine lines, scarring, skin strength.

You’ll be pink afterwards. That’s normal. That’s productive. That’s your skin doing the do.

You can soften lines.
You can improve skin quality.
You can stimulate collagen.

But if the mid-face volume has reduced, those treatments alone won’t restore facial structure.

As we age (& particularly after weight loss) we don’t just develop wrinkles. We lose support.
The fat pads in the cheeks gradually shrink and descend. Our bone support subtly changes.

The result?

• Under-eyes appear more hollow
• Folds beside the mouth look deeper
• The lower face can look heavier
• The face feels less supported

The mid-face acts as the foundation of the face.
When volume is carefully restored here, it provides lift and support to the areas below. Under-eyes can look fresher. The lower face appears lighter. Contours look more defined again.

Done properly, mid-face filler is not about creating prominent cheeks. It is about replacing what time has reduced and rebalancing the face.

In many cases, it is one of the most effective anti-ageing treatments we can offer - because we are addressing structure, not just surface.

If your skin looks good but something still feels a little tired or flatter than it used to, this is often the reason.

A full assessment is always key. The goal is balance, not bulk 🩷

Hi! Let us introduce ourselves - we're Aly & Jade, a mother and daughter run skin clinic in Christchurch, Bournemouth that specialise in anti-ageing treatments and problem skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and pigmentation.

When we're talking about anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, non-surgical facelifts, laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, acne scarring, stretch mark, laser pigmentation & thread vein treatment or perhaps even skin tag and mole removal - it can all sound a bit scary!
