"You are not your thoughts, you're the one listening to your thoughts" .. do something quickly, count to 5 in your head. . . . Do YOU count to 5, or are you aware that you are counting to 5 ? Usually it's an awareness, you either mentally "hear" or picture the numbers. So imagine that thoughts don't have to be listened to. You, as an observer of your thoughts, can decide which ones deserve air time, action, reaction and which ones are simply just unhelpful.

You actually don't need to be neurodivergent to experience this.  Lots of anxious thought patterns come from your brain ...

Let's talk acceptance, it's a theme I talk about a lot. But today we'll cover acceptance of self, if you want to be better, do better, change in some way then it's quite hard to do when you are thinking that you are faulty in some way. Pretty demotivating. You are already the you that you want to be, usually it's just that your actions and behaviours don't match the person that you want to be. That version of you already exists, let's find out what is in the way of you acting in the way that resonates with who you want to be? But first, let's honour where you are, accept yourself fully at this stage of your journey, because while you are rejecting yourself, you are instantly at odds with your goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT during your session. Firstly, let me say, there are so many misconceptions about hypnotherapy, not entirely helped by stage hypnosis (which is hilarious, but not quite the same)

A good part of the session is talking about the issue and how it presents itself, discussing this "cognitively".

Once we move along to the hypnosis part of the session, all I need is your focused state of attention. You might wonder "Am I doing it right?" "am I really hypnotised?", "is this what it feels like?". Hypnotherapy feels different to everyone, you don't need to be in some trance or sleep like state for it to have positive effect, although lots of clients do experience this, it's not necessary. There is no pressure to do or experience anything in any particular way, just keep your focus and attention with me, in the session. Simple.

We then have a catch up after the session and finish up, ready for the next one.

Don't worry, there are no swinging pocket watches or spiral images needed, although I'm tempted to buy a pocket watch just for the comedy factor 😅.

There will likely be tasks for you to do at home between sessions, this helps to cement in the learning and themes we covered in session.

This is so true. Some of the things we do and stresses we put ourselves under are self created (not all . . Just some) . . How many things could be put down? How many things could be planned for another day? Does it need to happen/be worried about right now? If you're overwhelmed, make a list
1) essential tasks (things that cannot wait)
2) non essential tasks (things that won't suffer for waiting a little longer . . . Washing up anyone? )

Focus on list 1 . Then relax. Tomorrow is another day. The world will carry on turning.

Just raising awareness. Often misunderstood as the "easy" way to give birth, having had both types of birth myself, I can say neither is particularly easy and they are both have their own challenges!

However cesarean births can be traumatic, just as natural births can and often have more psychological implications as well "I SHOULD have been able to birth naturally" being a common one, or a feeling that your body isn't capable of doing things it should be able to. There are things to come to terms with and often other traumas where emergency c sections are concerned to work through.

It's not the easy way, it's often the BEST way, the SAFEST way, the HEALTHIEST way for you and your baby.

I would go as far as to say, this is very often the case.

For instance, if we don't do something in life because we are worried about people's opinions of us . . . . the opinion isn't physically holding us back, our concern about it is. This is self fulfilling.

There are many many examples where people will say "I couldn't possibly. . " but in reality of course you could! You could wake up any morning and decide that later in the week you were going to skydive for instance, nothing holding you back!

Now I've used some fairly large examples here, but oftentimes it's smaller than this, small things which we have convinced ourselves we are somehow limited on, even sometimes behaviours, our brains LOVE patterns and so we get stuck in patterns not feeling like we know how to break them.

The mind is incredibly powerful, both positively and negatively, depending how you use it. Use it wisely 😉
