A good explanation about ‘Holistic Treatment’ worth following.

This week I'm going to do a series of short posts describing holistic treatment, what it means and the different sorts of therapies that I personally offer. They will be simple explanations, there is of course a lot more background information and you're welcome to contact me if you'd like to know more.
There is sometimes confusion about what 'holistic treatment' is and how that differs from 'normal' veterinary treatment. Usually when an animal sees a vet, you ask about a specific problem and the vet treats that problem e.g. the dog is lame - the vet treats the lameness.
Holistic veterinary care means looking at the whole animal and taking into account all its symptoms, problems it may be prone to, its lifestyle, personality traits, likes and dislikes, diet and environment and then using treatment options that address all the information you have gathered about the WHOLE animal.
So you may want to adjust the diet, introduce some supplements, recommend physical therapies like chiropractic, acupuncture or hydrotherapy or prescribe herbs or homeopathic medicines. The idea is a balanced restoration of the health of an animal wherever that is possible.

I've given the meatman the cheque for the mare and foal but there isn't enough in the bank and I've had to take 300 out of my pension to pay Benoit [hay man] and the vets just rang to say I need to pay more every month! They want 300 immediately 😞 The cheque I have given Herve [farmer - more hay] for 300 will be going out too!”

The Sanctuary is in dire financial straits!!! If you can, please donate to help Felicity with some of the HUGE bills. No amount is too small. There are over 40 equines at the sanctuary, with constant hay, vet, farrier, feed and medication bills. It is too much for Felicity's limited pension!! Based on a system known as 'the law of similars', it has been found that horses are a species of animal which respond exceptionally well to homeopathy. For the informed horse owner it can be a valuable aid in animal care.

Generally safe, inexpensive and effective aid for horse and owner, and useful to support veterinary treatment in more serious situations. (It is perfectly legal to use homeopathy on your own animal). Many vets quite happily accept supporting homeopathic remedies, on the basis that they can at the very least do no harm. They will not interfere with traditional medicines, some vets are positively pro-active in their use, having also experienced the benefits first hand.
