Real skin & a few greys thrown in for good measure 🤣
Perimenopause took me by surprise when it came to my skin , suddenly, I was breaking out like a teenager again 😅. Spots, sensitivity, random reactions — it all felt like my skin had a mind of its own.
Perimenopause brings big hormonal shifts. Oestrogen levels start to dip, which means less collagen, slower healing, and more dryness. But testosterone can still fluctuate, leading to those unexpected breakouts and congestion. Add in stress and changes in sleep, and your skin can really start to feel different.
What I’ve learned (both personally and professionally) is that this stage isn’t something to battle — it’s something to adapt to. Your skin’s needs change, and your skincare should too.
A few things that have helped me -
Hydration inside and out — think gentle cleansers, ceramide-rich moisturisers, and drinking enough water.
Simplify your routine — I stopped using different products and kept my routine simple
Things like Microneedling to stimulate collagen , skin peels to exfoliate at a deep level and skin boosters to add hydration can help.
Don’t ignore the emotional side — skin changes can affect how we feel about ourselves. You’re not alone in that.
Professional support — a good consultation can help identify what your skin really needs during this transition.
If you’re noticing your skin changing during perimenopause — from breakouts to dryness or sensitivity — please know it’s completely normal. I’ve been there too, and there are ways to help your skin feel balanced again.
