In a week of sporting celebrations it would be remiss of me not to mentioned my own daughters 3 achievements in the same week, Ballinascreen U16 camogie player of the year as well as selection to Derry U16 camogie panel and Derry U16 LGFA panel. What makes it more special is that she has only lived in the country just over 5 years and playing both sports 4 years.

Soft Tissue Release (STR)is a manual therapy technique used by soft tissue therapists, sports therapists, and physiotherapists to treat tight, injured, or painful muscles and connective tissues. It involves involves applying precise pressure to a muscle or fascia (connective tissue), while simultaneously stretching it. It’s an advanced form of massage that targets areas of tension, congestion, adhesions (knots), and scar tissue more directly than general massage.

This combination of pressure and movement helps break down adhesions and scar tissue,
improve flexibility and range of motion,reducing muscle pain and stiffness, and restoring normal muscle length and function.

Soft Tissue Release is often used for:
• Sports injuries
• Postural tension (e.g., neck, shoulder, or back tightness)
• Repetitive strain injuries
• Muscle imbalances or restricted movement.

It can feel quite intense at the point of pressure, often described as a “good pain” followed by a sense of release and improved movement in the area.

I appreciate all the wonderful feedback and the overall success of this beautiful calming treatment. Thank you for keep me busy. As a result I have decided to continue with it as a permanent treatment at only a slightly increased price.

Career longevity is everything in the barbering trade ✂️💈

This client sees over 100 people a week, so looking after his hands, wrists, and forearms is a must. The repetitive motions of cutting and styling can lead to issues like carpal tunnel, tennis elbow (medial epicondylitis)or golfer’s elbow (lateral epicondylitis) if left unchecked.

Here I’m working on the forearm flexors and extensors to keep them strong, flexible, and pain-free. Regular treatment, stretching, and strengthening helps barbers (and anyone in a repetitive job) avoid strain, protect grip strength, and stay at the top of their game for years to come
