The Laurels

The Laurels Care Home offers residential and dementia care in Draycott near Cheddar.

The Laurels Residential Care Home, situated in the village of Draycott, at the foot of the Mendips Hills, provides high quality person centred care in a comfortable home-from-home rural village atmosphere. With twenty-one bedrooms, there is a comfortable home from home feel with staff available to provide care in a safe and secure setting. Residents retain their local connections and interests with regular visits from community groups and day trips. Home-cooked nutritious food provided by our cook caters to all needs and preferences.

A blooming lovely afternoon at The Laurels 🌸💐

The home was filled with the fresh smell of flowers while some beautiful arrangements were being made 🌷🌼💐

Once the flowers were finished, it was time to enjoy scones, sandwiches and a well deserved cup of tea ☕🍓

A lovely little outing this morning 🌼🛍️

We popped to The Range to pick up decorations for our Easter bonnets and everyone enjoyed choosing their own bits and pieces for their hats. There were lots of fluffy chicks 🐥, bright flowers 🌸, ribbons 🎀 and colourful decorations going into the baskets ready for crafting. 🎩

Some residents even spotted a few Easter treats and picked up little gifts for their grandchildren 🐣

Before heading back we stopped for a coffee and a toasted hot cross bun with butter ☕🧈

We’re now all set to bring a little bit of spring into the home with our Easter creations! 🌼🐣

Snowdon Update! 🏔️

The girls made it to the summit of Snowdon! 🎉 🥾 32000 steps and a 3199FT Ascent 🏔️

Setting off in the middle of the night and climbing in freezing conditions, they pushed themselves every step of the way all all in aid of our residents’ comfort fund. Their determination, early mornings, and months of training have truly paid off.

We couldn’t be prouder of you all. What an incredible achievement for such a meaningful cause. 💜

🐾 Nothing better than a puppy cuddle! 🐶💛

Today we were visited by “Bea”, a beautiful Maltese Puppy, who spent some time with us at The Laurels.💜 Bea brought us smiles and gentle cuddles.
Pet therapy can help reduce anxiety, lift mood, encourage social interaction and support overall wellbeing and Bea certainly brought plenty of joy today! just look at all those wonderful Smiles 😃 🐾

☀️🌸 Spring is in the air & the sun is shining, our beautiful daffodils are now out on display, adding a splash of sunshine around the home 🌼
We have been busy baking and made not one but two delicious cakes! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
A sponge with sweet strawberry jam and butter icing in the middle… and a rich chocolate sponge filled with chocolate butter icing and topped with mini eggs & little Chicks 🍓🍫
Baking club is always a favourite bringing back memories and making new ones together 💛

🏔☕️ Snowdonia Coffee Morning ☕️🏔

Adventure is calling and Snowdonia is waiting! Our girls have been training hard, getting ready to take on the mountain 💪✨
Join us Tuesday at 10:30 for coffee, cake and a great cause as we raise funds for our residents’ comfort fund.

Pop in, enjoy a brew, some tasty treats and help us send them off to Snowdonia with lots of encouragement, cheers and good luck 🎉

On Friday, all our residents enjoyed a Special Friendship lunch, served with Pink Bubbles 🥂.
We were delighted to invite Lyn -Tonys Wife, to join Tony at The Laurels for the day, Making the occasion even more Special.

🥂 It’s been wonderful week full of love and red roses at The Laurels 💕

From our wonderful Bakes and Bubbles Party to having Our Very Special Friendship Lunch. We have shared memories of our own special relationships & significant life moments. 👰‍♀️🤵💒We put our feet up and enjoyed plenty of laughs watching Bridget Jones’s Diary. 🎬💕

As always The Laurels has been filled with laughter & warmth 🥰. Moments like these, along with the care & compassion from all the team, makes The Laurels such a special place to call home 💜 🌹✨

💕 Our Bakes & Bubbles Party! 🧁🥂

Today we were joined by the fantastic Jay Hobday, who sang the most beautiful Valentine’s songs for us.

🥂We enjoyed pink prosecco, delicious sandwiches, fresh strawberries, and some wonderful homemade bakes.

It was so special to have families join us too 💜 we danced and sang, together. A truly joyful afternoon filled with love and laughter! 💕
