I’m terrible at remembering to take photos, especially when I massage my own two.
As you can see our 10 month old Rosie loves her massage sessions. She’s a strong puller on the lead so can have tension around her shoulders (deltoids and triceps). Blue likes a shorter massage session with the addition of the red light therapy.

Not all dogs can tolerate a massage or even a lot of light touch. This can be due to previous injuries or trauma/abuse, but a dislike to touch it is a clear sign to get your dog checked over by a vet asap to rule out pain issues.

Any sudden changes in behaviour towards you or others or changes in the way they move, stand or sit (even if you don’t think they are in pain) should also be checked by vet asap.

The photos below demonstrate what pain can look like in a dog (Just 2 examples).
Pic 1: Running and leaping about apparently almost as normal🤷‍♀️
Pic 2: A sloppy sit

Dogs don’t always show pain! But they will try and communicate it.

(Blue is not experiencing pain, he has been checked. Here he is purely acting as a model).

Joint post this week, it’s been a busy and emotional week for us, but in the midst of it all I still managed to pay a maintenance visit to these two gorgeous boys. Early in the week I visited George and on Good Friday I visited Beau. Both had their 3 weekly maintenance massage to relieve pain, compensation tension and help maintain muscle and correct posture and movement.
Such good boys 🐾 💜

Today I finally had the opportunity to pop in and meet James, one of the owners at our new natural dog shop and groomers Gallipots of Driffield! If you haven’t yet been, do pop in and give them a visit! I came away with treats for my two and a new ‘Green & Wild’s’ carrot toy (keeping my 🤞 that this is one Blue can’t destroy!) Lovely to have met James and I look forward to getting to know all the staff better, with the possibility of some future collaboration…

Yesterday Mimi had her first introduction to massage. She wasn’t sure what was going on but then settled into a relaxed state. When it came to doing her other side she did decide she had had enough at that point, which is absolutely fine. Some dogs will lay and relax into a massage for hours (though we never do more than an hour) and some can become overwhelmed with the amount of touch and are happy to let me know when they’ve had enough.

Like us, every dog is an individual and will always be treated as such by me. 🐾

I am trained in PMD (photobiomodulation) therapy and use the Vetcare Photizo device. Red light therapy stimulates cellular regeneration, speeding up healing, reducing pain/inflammation in animals. It is used to treat musculoskeletal injuries, chronic arthritis, and wounds by enhancing blood flow and boosting endorphin/serotonin levels.

George had his maintenance massage today. He has been a naughty boy over the weekend (even at 15) but he acted the angel today and near the end of his massage he actually jumped into my arms. Love him 🥰

It was lovely to see Bill and Sarah today from Walking the Wolds . Sarah (or rather Bill) was the winner of a free maintenance therapy session with Pawsitivity CMT. I look forward to continuing to help Bill move and feel better.
