💜 Meet the Get-Caked Team 💜

Last but not least it's Fab’s Mud Machine Aaron

Now, Aaron is our rugby-playing participant, which sounds very promising.

You’d naturally assume this means strength, stamina and peak athletic performance…

Until we tell you he plays for the more social side of the club’s fourth team, who are perhaps better known for their drinking ability than their dominance on the pitch 🍻🏉

So while we are confident he will give it a good go, there is a very real possibility that the quickest way to get him round the course might be the promise of a pint at the finish line 😅

We have, of course, checked and apparently he is not allowed to take a beer round with him - Unfair, really.

Aaron is taking on Get Caked on 19th April to help raise money for the brilliant The Hinge Centre 💜

Next it's Claire, Queen of the Obstacles 👑

Claire is, quite frankly, the one most likely to make this look easy.

A seasoned runner who completed the Great North Run last year and regularly takes on challenges, she’s definitely the athlete of Team Fab.

Her only concerns?
☀️ Fair weather
🟤 “Dry” mud
👑 And not disgracing herself by being too unladylike on the obstacles

A perfectly reasonable standard to uphold until you remember this event involves crawling through mud 😮

💜 Meet the Get-Caked Team 💜

First up it's Birthday Boss Bruce

While most people celebrate their birthday with cake and a quiet day off Bruce has chosen to spend his tackling a muddy obstacle course at Sledmere House (we use the word "chosen" loosely).

Now, it’s fair to say this isn’t his usual environment…

In fact, the last time Bruce did 5 miles of anything, it was probably in a car and he remained winded for a good few minutes afterward 🚙

That said he is committed, he is showing up, and he is doing it for a cause that really matters 💜

Bruce will be taking on Get Caked on 19th April to raise money for the incredible The Hinge Centre

Most team leaders have found themselves in this position at some point.

Someone says something that catches you off guard.
Someone opens up.
Someone is clearly not quite themselves.

And in that moment, a lot of people think:

“What do I actually say?”

Not because they do not care but because they have never really been shown how to respond.

That is exactly why First Aid for Mental Health training can be so valuable.

Medication errors do not always happen because people do not care.

Often, they happen because people have never been properly shown what good practice actually looks like.

For anyone working in health and social care, confidence around medication handling is incredibly important, not just for compliance, but for the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the people you support.

Our Level 2 Award in the Principles of Safe Handling & Administration of Medication is designed to help learners build that confidence and better understand the responsibilities that come with handling and administering medication.

Most managers are already supporting mental health whether they feel prepared or not.

People open up and conversations happen. Situations arise that are not always easy to navigate.

Our First Aid for Mental Health course is designed to help managers, supervisors, HR teams and team leaders feel more confident having those conversations and knowing what to do next.

This is not about having all the answers but about feeling better prepared when it matters.

🚛 Professional drivers see a lot more than just roads and traffic.

They may be first on scene at a collision, witness a medical emergency, or need to support a member of the public before emergency services arrive.

That’s why first aid training as part of CPC can be so valuable.

It gives drivers practical skills, confidence, and the ability to act when it really matters.

A pleasure to deliver this session for a team who really got involved 👏
