🌟 What a week it’s been for Droitwich! 🌟

We hope everyone who attended The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival had an unforgettable time and stayed safe throughout! 😄🎭

This incredible event has truly put Droitwich on the map not just locally, but nationally as fans, families, and comedy lovers came together to celebrate one of our most iconic and beloved hometown legends.

The festival has brought joy, laughter, and recognition to our brilliant town, and it’s been amazing to see Droitwich shining in the spotlight across the media. From the colourful tributes to Rik, to the vibrant atmosphere in town this week has reminded us what a strong, creative, and welcoming community we really are. 💙

We are proud to have played a very small part in such a big moment for Droitwich. Thank you to everyone who supported, attended, volunteered, and smiled you helped make history.

Here’s to more events that bring us together and show the world what Droitwich is made of! ✨🙌

On Wednesday, we were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Douglas Chamberlain CBE, widely regarded as the founding figure of paramedicine.

Over five decades ago, Dr Chamberlain pioneered the role of the paramedic, transforming the landscape of emergency care and directly contributing to the saving of countless lives. His groundbreaking work and unwavering commitment established the very framework of the paramedic profession we know today.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the honour of knowing him.
May his legacy live on in every paramedic who continues to serve with skill, compassion, and courage.

Rest in peace, Dr Chamberlain. Your impact will never be forgotten. 💚

🎅🎄 Santa’s Special Delivery! 🎄🎅

This Evening, James (a.k.a. Santa) has been spreading festive cheer by delivering delicious pizzas and refreshing drinks to hardworking crews and hospital staff!

Santa made stops at Worcester Royal and Alexandra Hospital, as well as the local ambulance hubs, spreading joy and appreciation to the amazing people who work tirelessly to keep our community safe. He even had a run-in with The Grinch! but we think Santa’s kindness and Christmas cheer won The Grinch over!

A huge thank you to Pizza Hut Worcester for their incredible pizza donations for the 3rd year running and to CO-OP on the Redrow Estate and Morrisons for their generous drink contributions. Together, you’ve helped bring smiles to so many faces this festive season.

To all our NHS heroes and emergency service crews: thank you for everything you do. We hope this little bit of Christmas spirit helped brighten your day. 🎁✨

🚨 Grant Funding Available for Life-Saving Trauma Kits! 🚨

What an amazing opportunity to make our community safer! Worcestershire County Council is offering grant funding for trauma kits, which can help control severe bleeding during emergencies before paramedics arrive.

These kits are easy to use, require no prior training, and can make a real difference in saving lives. Let’s work together to get these kits into local businesses, sports grounds, and community spaces across Droitwich!

What’s in a Trauma Kit?
• Trauma dressings
• Tourniquets
• Clear instructions for use

This initiative is part of preparations for Martyn’s Law (The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill), aimed at enhancing emergency readiness and public safety.

✅ Apply for funding today! Applications are open until 31 March 2025.
📝 Trauma Kit Request Form: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=hxj0rDe900WeZUfN5I3IWuCB1-SSo_ZNkv_84XGKJshUOVBXWjFUQ0NYVFhEMEhCWUo2QzEzNlVJVy4u

Let’s make Droitwich a safer place for everyone by ensuring these life-saving kits are available in as many locations as possible. Please share and encourage local businesses and groups to apply!
