Over two days in March, five AKW volunteers from Droitwich Spa returned to St Richard's Hospice to help the team sort donations for resale in their Kidderminster charity shop.

Tracey and Sue joined Tom who previously volunteered at St Richard’s warehouse in 2025, with Gary and Samantha visiting a week later.

Since 2022, we've donated 1,184 Easter eggs to multiple charities, foodbanks, care providers and hospitals. This year, 84 eggs were donated to Worcester Snoezelen a sensory leisure therapy centre, and Middlewich & District Foodbank.

We also held an internal raffle in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester, which raised £325.00 and will support the ongoing care of young people at the hospice.

Over a third of stroke survivors are left dependent on others for their daily care, with most residential homes not designed with bathrooms that promote rehabilitation after a stroke.

The AKW Clinical Hub features a variety of resources that provide guidance on how to create spaces within the home that aid stroke rehabilitation, with a digital guide, video and CPD presentation available for free.

Recently, volunteers Kate, Laura, Sharon and Joshua from AKW in Droitwich Spa spent a day supporting the team at Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter, where they sorted donations for resale in the charity’s shop, which opened in summer 2025.

Volunteer Kate said: “It’s clear to see how much the centre means to those who work there and the animals they care for. We all had a great day and I would love to go again.”
