Fiona is a fully qualified and licensed yoga teacher and works full time delivering yoga to all ages and abilities from age 2-90! The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root "yuj", which means "to yoke" the spirit and physical body together. Yoga has evolved over thousands of years to embrace a wide range of styles and disciplines. It is a suitable form of exercise for all ages and abilities. Fiona specialises in two main styles of Yoga.
1) Hatha yoga, which describes the physical practice of yoga. In fact, sometimes the name Hatha is used interchangeably with "yoga." The slow pace and simple breathing exercises make it a great place to learn basic poses and become comfortable on the mat.
2) Vinyasa, which means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.
