Duke Yoga Duke Yoga is an organisation created by Fiona Whitehead. Fiona has developed her knowledge over a 25 years of practice.

Fiona is a fully qualified and licensed yoga teacher and works full time delivering yoga to all ages and abilities from age 2-90! The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root "yuj", which means "to yoke" the spirit and physical body together. Yoga has evolved over thousands of years to embrace a wide range of styles and disciplines. It is a suitable form of exercise for all ages and abilities. Fiona specialises in two main styles of Yoga.

1) Hatha yoga, which describes the physical practice of yoga. In fact, sometimes the name Hatha is used interchangeably with "yoga." The slow pace and simple breathing exercises make it a great place to learn basic poses and become comfortable on the mat.

2) Vinyasa, which means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.

Morning everyone. Wakey wakey!! Time to get down to The heriotts and have a go at some seated yoga. Great fun and not as energetic as the picture looks. The main aim is to exercise our faces with laughter and try to stretch a little too . 10.00 today ###

Monday is here again so let’s start the week with a stretch and a roll. Then once out of bed make your way to The Heriotts to stretch your arms out and roll your balls under your feet. Stretch your face into a smile it’s the best exercise of all. Come and shake off your blues and meet new people. 10.00 this morning. Just turn up.

That day of the week has arrived …. We can meet and have a chat and a laugh …. oh and some stretching and moving seated yoga. We all thoroughly enjoy meeting each week for the friendships that we make and the encouragement to come back the following week.
