Before my Mum died of oesophagus cancer 30 years ago , at the age of 59 ( my age now 😢😢) , she suffered over 15 years with acid reflux , painful bloating and indigestion . I didn't get to help my Mum , but my Mum's suffering lead me to study digestive disorders , which has allowed me to help many clients over the years with the same symptoms as my Mum. In most cases curing their acid reflux and stopping their bloating.

Our Story

Since I was a child, watching my Mother’s health decline, my interest in digestion and the body began to develop. My Mother, a busy Mum of six children used to eat a full evening meal at 5 minutes to 5 in the evening, and at 5 past five she was hurtling towards her evening job on her bicycle. This caused a detrimental effect on her health after more than a decade of rushing her food which resulted in severe indigestion, acid reflux and resulted in a early death from a Barrett’s esophagus which turned to cancer at the young age of 59.

Following on from my Mother’s untimely death, having returned from a two year spell living in Japan, my fascination with diet and health started to grow. During my time in Japan, living on a fish, noodle and vegetable diet, I noticed a big change not only in my body shape and weight, but in my general well being. My concentration and energy levels soared and my head seemed clearer. I felt calmer too.

When I returned home to England , my Mother’s health was starting to decline. For most of my life she had a bad habit of choking on her food, which I now know was the start of her esophageal problems. She was also known for drinking lots of scorching hot tea. She used to screw her face up and of wince as the piping hot tea went down her throat. This habit, I am certain contributed to the resulting damage to the lining of her esophagus , coupled with years of acid reflux from rushing her evening meal. She never touched a glass of water either and I now know that she was severely dehydrated too.

Her death left me with many questions, as I wondered why she had always choked even on soft food. She often used to blame me if I was sitting with her, saying that I had distracted her from her food when talking to her! But when she began to choke on even soup or soft bread, I really became worried to myself. Towards the end, with the esophagus cancer well developed she could not even take a sip of water without excruciating pain. She said it was like drinking broken glass. I can honestly say that starvation followed by the cancer were the causes of my Mother’s early departure from this world.
