Therapy addresses feelings and issues that clients are currently experiencing. However, sometimes- these problems are ingrained in a person or family that they can be caused by what’s called Generational Trauma. It takes unbelievable bravery to be the person ready to face pain that has been handed down for generations.

Symptoms can include:-

A lack of self-worth
Anxiety
Depression
Emotional numbing and depersonalization
Unresolved and complicated grief
Isolation and withdrawal
Hyper-vigilance
Fearfulness

Life is a journey- Yes, we may have goals in life-moving towards achieving things, but it’s important not to get carried away with the end goal- but rather to focus, on the journey to that goal- not to become so focused on the finish line, that we fail to enjoy the journey.

Through understanding how childhood has impacted our present self, we can begin to heal ourselves by addressing the original wounds caused by unmet needs that resulted in the self-protective behaviors or responses that now cause problems or pose challenges in our adult life.

Sometimes , identifying unmet needs in childhood can be a straightforward process. However, for many people, it is not immediately clear and therapy can be very effective and life changing to work out in a safe environment with the help of a professional.
