🎄 Missed Fun Fact Friday — but hey, Christmas magic doesn’t keep a schedule!
So here’s a Fun Fact Foraging Wednesday to make up for it. ✨

Did you know…
Ancient winter traditions included foraging evergreens like holly, ivy, and pine because they symbolised life, protection, and good fortune during the darkest days of the year?
Those same plants inspired the Christmas decorations we still use today — from wreaths to garlands to the sprig of holly on top of the pudding!

So today’s Fun Fact Foraging is all about gathering festive magic — in nature, in people, and in moments. Whether it’s collecting pinecones on a winter walk, gathering memories with loved ones, or simply picking up little sparks of warmth wherever you can find them… it all counts. ❤️

And speaking of festive magic…
We’ve been out foraging and have created some beautiful Christmas wreaths, table decorations, and small teacher gifts — all wonderfully seasonal and perfect for spreading Christmas cheer.

✨ Prices range from £5.00 to £25.00.
Fresh flowers can be added for an extra £5.00, or you can get creative and add your own — fresh or faux! 🌿💐

✨ Let’s make this season sparkle. ✨

Drop us a message!
And don’t forget to share and tag us — we love seeing your festive joy! 🎄💫

🎉 Fun Fact Friday

🦙🐝👥 Together We Thrive — Alpacas, Bees & Humans in the Dark Winter Months

🦙 Fun Fact: Alpacas
Did you know alpacas hate being alone?
They rely on the comfort and reassurance of their herd — especially in harsh weather.
A lonely alpaca struggles, but a connected herd?
They absolutely thrive.

🐝 Fun Fact: Bees
Bees have one of the coziest winter survival strategies ever:
they form a tight cluster inside the hive, generating warmth and sharing energy.
No single bee could survive the cold…
but as a buzzing little community, they endure winter together.

👥 Fun Fact: Humans in Winter
Here’s the human side of the story:
the darker winter months can really affect our mood, motivation, and mental health.
Short days and long nights?
They can make us pull back without even noticing.

But just like alpacas and bees, we aren’t built to get through tough seasons alone.

Connection becomes even more important now —
a message, a check-in, a walk with a friend, a warm drink, joining a group, saying yes to company.
Small moments of togetherness bring big light into the dark months.

Winter feels easier — and brighter — when we stay connected.
Together, we support each other.
Together, we strengthen each other.
Together, we thrive.

🌿 Proof that nature’s best therapy comes on four fluffy feet… 🦙💛

Some moments don’t need a whole story — just a gentle animal, a few smiles, and a little fresh air.

That’s exactly what happened in August, when our alpacas brought comfort, curiosity and laughter into care homes — sparking conversations and heart-warming moments shared between generations.
Pure joy. ✨

Turns out, you’re never too old to:
🦙 Smile at a fluffy face
🧡 Feel your shoulders drop and share a giggle
🌿 Let nature lift your mood without saying a word

This reel captures what matters most — connection, warmth, and the kind of happiness you feel, rather than explain.

Because sometimes, the best moments are the softest ones. 💛

How do you reconnect with nature when you need a little lift in your day? 💚
Let us know in the comments — we’d love to hear 👇

🌿 Fun Fact Friday — Life, Growth & New Beginnings 🌿

A newborn alpaca and a busy bee… tiny moments, big meaning. 🐝🦙
Both remind us that nature is always renewing, rebuilding and regenerating — one gentle step at a time.

This August, we saw that same spark of life when our alpacas visited care homes.
The joy, calm and connection they brought reminded us that wellbeing isn’t just about ageing — it’s about living, connecting and feeling part of something alive.

Nature teaches us powerful lessons:

🐝 Bees show us the magic of small, steady actions working in harmony
🦙 New life (like our baby alpaca!) reminds us that every cycle brings growth, hope and new beginnings
🌿 Nature restores, without rushing, without forcing — just by being

Sometimes, the smallest moments are the most renewing. 💛

How do you reconnect with nature to find balance after a busy day? 💚
We’d love to hear your thoughts 👇

☀️ Saturday Summer Fun 2025 ☀️

What an absolutely amazing day! The weather was perfect, the sun was shining, and the whole community came together for a day full of laughter, smiles, and sunshine.🌻

A huge shoutout to Magheralin Parish Caring Association and Magheralin Parish for putting on such a fantastic and well-organized event — you guys truly brought the community spirit to life! 💛

It was extra special for us because it was the first time our boys experienced such a big crowd, and they handled it like absolute champs! 🥰 We left with full hearts, happy faces, and a camera roll full of memories we’ll cherish forever.

It wasn’t just a day out — it was a reminder of the joy of community, the wonder of discovery, and the preciousness of family time.

Already counting down the days until the next one!
Until next time, and big shout out and thanks to Watson for allowing us to come to the event.🌞💛

🦙🌧️ Fun Fact Friday: Alpacas vs. Wet Weather!

Did you know? Alpacas are natural wet-weather warriors! 💪

Their fleece is nature’s engineering at its best — moisture-wicking, breathable, and wonderfully warm, even when the skies turn grey. 🌧️

Unlike wool, alpaca fibre is water-repellent, not waterproof. Light drizzle or mist? No problem! Their fleece sheds moisture and keeps them cosy. But when the rain turns heavy, alpacas show their smart — they’ll instinctively head for shelter. 🏠....But there's always one that doesn't get the memo!

Why? Because staying dry helps them save energy, maintain body temperature, and avoid chills — especially important in our famously unpredictable Northern Irish weather. 🌦️

✨ A reminder that alpacas aren’t just cute — they’re clever, eco-efficient, and perfectly adapted to life in all seasons.

🌿 FUN FACT FRIDAY

When you’re this adorable, you don’t need top teeth 😄🦙

Alpacas use a built-in “green” eating system that’s been working perfectly for 25 million years — they use their lower incisors and a special dental pad to nibble grass efficiently.
And they still have better manners than most people at brunch — reserving their spit only for other alpacas!

💚 Join for more feel-good, eco-fun facts each Friday!

🌼🐝 Happy National Honey Day! 🍯🦙

Did you know bees and alpacas have more in common than you might think?
Both play a sweet role in keeping our planet healthy and sustainable 🌍💚

🐝 Here at Rowan Hill, our two buzzing bee colonies have been hard at work pollinating flowers — supporting biodiversity, helping plants grow, and strengthening our food system.

🦙 Meanwhile, our alpacas gently graze and fertilize the land — enriching the soil and protecting the same ecosystems that our bees depend on.

Together, they remind us how teamwork in nature creates harmony, balance, and a touch of magic. ✨

Here’s to celebrating the little buzzers and the soft grazers who make our world a better, greener, and sweeter place! 💛🌸
