We’re proud to share that our team has recently completed the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism 💙

This training is a vital step forward in improving understanding, communication, and support for individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people. It reinforces our commitment to providing inclusive, compassionate, and person-centred care in everything we do.

The introduction of this legislation marks a significant and positive change across health and social care. It ensures that all staff have the knowledge and confidence to deliver safer, more respectful, and more effective support — helping to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for those who need it most.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to making this training meaningful and impactful.

GRITTING TEAMS SET TO TREAT SHEFFIELD ROADS TONIGHT AS ICE RISK RETURNS

Sheffield’s gritting teams will be heading out from 6.30pm this evening to treat priority routes across the city as wintry showers and freezing temperatures are forecast overnight. Roads above 200 metres in elevation will be prioritised as crews work to reduce the risk of ice forming.

Drivers are being urged to take extra care this evening and early tomorrow morning, particularly on higher routes and untreated residential streets. The work is being carried out by Amey on behalf of Sheffield City Council as part of the city’s winter road safety programme.

Why is Friday the 13th considered unlucky?

The superstition actually comes from a mix of history and myth.

🔹 In Christian tradition, there were 13 people at the Last Supper, and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
🔹 In Norse mythology, Loki was the 13th guest at a banquet that ended in chaos.
🔹 And on Friday 13th October 1307, members of the Knights Templar were arrested in France — a date some link to the legend.

Over time, the fear even got a name: paraskevidekatriaphobia (the fear of Friday the 13th). it’s fascinating how stories from centuries ago still shape our calendars today.

💙 Blue Monday – January 19 💙
Did you know Blue Monday started back in 2005 as part of a marketing campaign? While the idea of it being the “most depressing day of the year” was later debunked, the name stuck — and it’s since taken on a much more positive meaning.

Today is now widely used as a chance to check in, start conversations around wellbeing, and spread a little extra kindness. And we’re all for that 💫

So whether it’s wearing a splash of blue, sharing a smile, or taking a moment for yourself, let’s use today as a reminder to support one another and focus on the good.
