Storm chaser or battening down the hatches? With the weather looking a bit wild today, will you be watching the trees dancing in the wind or staying cosy indoors with the curtains closed? Being in a storm can make you feel unsafe and chaotic, but it can bring space to grow again and often has its own beauty. Hope you can bend into it and find the calm that follows.

Not 100% sure of the ethics of broadcasting real therapy sessions, but the BBC programme on what happens in therapy does look pretty accurate. Interesting to reflect on the need to properly process grief and trauma, something we Brits are not always very good at!

Spring is well and truly sprung, so time to move forward again! I've been slightly hibernating as I settle into the Counselling Nook, but it's been lovely to get slowly started and offer a service to people in person in our local area and beyond in the online world which has been welcomed. Time to open some more doors and hopefully bring in some chinks of light and hope where darkness takes a little longer to go away. So why have I become a Counsellor?

In my 'portfolio' (that means slightly chaotic) career, the one thing I've always loved is hearing people's stories. Listening to folk talk about the harder times and tough experiences might have helped them a bit, but I got frustrated about not being able to do more. Volunteering with Samaritans told me loud and clear that this was the right path for me - the first time I'd felt I had a real vocation. It's such a privilege to have people share their difficulties and worries with you and be able to offer some support. So after a psychology degree and Masters in Health Psychology and now Pluralistic Counselling, I'm ready to put my training and experience of working with people who've experienced trauma and/or struggle with their mental wellbeing into practice at my wee nook!
