It’s normal to feel anxious or embarrassed when going for breast screening (x-ray to detect cancer). Staff are trained to help you feel comfortable and safe and can answer any questions you may have.
The mobile screening unit is in your area now (see GP surgeries involved below) and you may be invited to attend. You are invited every 3 years and if cancer is detected early, treatment is far easier.
GP practices that are inviting women for breast screening are:
- St James Medical Practice, Dudley
- The Greens Health Centre, Dudley
- Stepping Stones Medical Practice, Dudley
- Bath Street, Sedgley
- Castle Meadow Surgery, Dudley
- Anchor Medical Practice, Netherton
- Links Medical Practice, Netherton
- Cross Street Health Centre, Dudley
- Bean Road, Dudley

‼️IF THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD DONT GO IN!!‼️

With the hot weather upon us it’s so tempting to jump into open water (rivers, lakes, reservoirs). Follow this advice to stay safe:

⚠️Look out for warning signs or hidden dangers like shallow water or ledges to get stuck under
⚠️The water is still cold and the shock can be deadly
⚠️Check the depth – it can be deceptive
⚠️Don’t go alone
⚠️If there’s no lifeguard – don’t go in
⚠️If you fall in or become tired whilst you are in the water – stay calm, float on your back and call for help
⚠️Throw something that floats to somebody that has fallen in
⚠️If there is a life-threatening situation, call 999

As the hot weather continues please be careful .....

Letting kids play and splash in the water is a great thing to do when it’s hot. A word of warning, though. Watch young children all the time when they are in or near water – they can drown in less than 2 inches (6 centimetres).

If you’re not within arm’s reach you have gone too far.

⚠️UK Health Security Agency has today issued a yellow Heat health Alert from tomorrow (Wednesday) until Tuesday 15 July 2025.⚠️

The summer heat can affect us all. Some people are more at risk of harm from high temperatures and need to be more careful. These include older people, especially those over 75, people who live on their own, those with a pre-existing health condition, babies and young children, and people who spend a lot of time outside or in hot places.

Check out our Summer Wellbeing pages - here you will find information, advice, help and support on keeping safe and well in summer.
