Hello my name is Richard Birkett, I am a local Personal Trainer who has achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. This achievement has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages, abilities and fitness levels all achieving fantastic results. Helping others is my biggest passion and seeing the effectiveness of my safe, fun and friendly approach to Health, Fitness and Well-being has kept me going strong. Well done Lee 2025 GOAL accomplished 👏

100kg in the bag, welcome to the club.

In General Population 100kg Bench Press is Very rare, less than 1 in 1000 people.

Lee started training with us just after his 50th birthday and initially wanted to just try a month and see if a PT would really help take his training to the next level.

As you can see from the video above he was sold, after seeing how well he improved in a short space of a time Lee is training with us.

To achieve this I always put is SHORT TERM GOALS in place and structure my PROGRAMMES / PT SESSIONS around these.

I then start to add LONG TERM GOALS when I get to know the clients body along with their strengths and weaknesses, something I just pick up through my years of EXPERIENCE and the 1000s of clients I have trained over the years.

I am opening up a couple of 1 or 2 weekly PT sessions in 2026.

Working on pressing lockout out to help with her bench press final phase.

The pause press set just high enough to expose those triceps will help come competition day to finish her lift.

Also added in single arm shoulder press to help keep her shoulder not just strong but also stable.

Great accessory exercise if you are struggling with your Deadlift lockout 🔒

I’ve added a long resistance band to the 200kg on the bar to make the final phase more challenging and really think about getting those glutes working hard to push the hips through and lock them out.
