Today we remember Barrie, one of the founders of our group, whose passion, creativity and spirit helped shape who we are today. 🩵

This week feels especially poignant as we take to the stage with Cinderella — Barrie’s favourite pantomime — complete with his much-loved song Fame.

Today would have been Barrie’s birthday and our first show without him here. 🩵

As we celebrate 40 years of our group, we’re reminded that his legacy, along with Dennis and Jean, lives on in every rehearsal, every laugh, and every performance.

Thank you, Barrie, for the magic you brought to our shows. You are missed, remembered, and forever part of our story. ✨🎭

Youth drama group's stunning production of Cinderella takes to the stage

You can go to the ball - oh yes you can - thanks to Tameside Youth Drama group’s panto production now showing at Hyde Festival Theatre.

Tameside Youth Drama perform two shows annually, a musical in the summer and a pantomime in the new year.

The group have recently revealed that their summer musical production will be ‘Into The Woods’, which will be staged from July 9-11.

But right now the cast deliver a dazzling panto performance in their unique production of Cinderella.

Amazing costumes, special effects, plus plenty of good traditional panto fun with boos, cheers and songs are the order of the day in a high energy show packed with laugh out loud comedy and relentless one-liners.

Evening shows start at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee showing at 2pm which will have BSL interpretation.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Stage Right Creative Ltd for their kind words as we prepare for our pantomime 🎭💖

For anyone outside the theatre world, some of our language can sound a little… confusing 🤔😉 But to us, it’s all part of the magic ✨
Panto-speak has its own special meanings, and once you step behind the scenes, you quickly learn that words aren’t always what they seem 🎬

"Some people can’t see the magic it brings ✨
When in panto-speak words have a different guise 🗣️
They don’t understand that a theatre has “wings” 🪽
And even sometimes also “flies”! 🪰

Why we can’t wear our “aprons”, but throw custard pies 🥧😂
Why we often have “blackouts” and show no surprise 💡😲
Why our “props” don’t support things, how curtains can rise ⬆️
Nor the reason we try to avoid “prompt” replies 🤐📜

So don’t take me literally now I must beg 🙏
When I hope that in Hyde you will all “BREAK A LEG” 🍀🎭"

We always use Alan’s brilliant scripts — they’re beautifully written and our cast absolutely love bringing the characters to life on stage.
