Tameside Youth Drama Group

Tameside Youth Drama Group TYDG is a youth drama group based in Dukinfield. We welcome members aged 6-18 years old, and perform 2 shows a year at Hyde Festival theatre.

We are open to children aged 6-18, and meet every Wednesday evening at Rayner Stephens High School, Yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield from 6:15-8:15pm. The group was started in 1986 by Dennis and Jean Nash at Rycroft Hall in Audenshaw. It has been very successful for over 30 years and many of our past members have taken up careers in the theatre as dancers, actors, stage crew and costume designers. We do two shows a year, a Pantomime in January and a Musical in July. A number of our past members are now leaders of the group, many of which have over 10 years teaching experience. All our shows are performed at Hyde Festival Theatre. Our committee members, leaders, stage crew and helpers are all volunteers and do not receive any remuneration or expenses for their time and expertise. We keep our membership, show fees & weekly fees at an affordable price to enable children from all backgrounds to join and learn about the joys of performance. All leaders and helpers are DBS checked and several are also First Aid trained and Safeguarding certified.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums and mother figures in our TYDG drama family. 💐

To the mums of our members, our wonderful leaders, our audiences, and everyone who has supported us over the years — thank you for everything you do.

Today we also celebrate those who are no longer with us, those who hope to be mums one day, and those who care for and support others in their own special way. Your encouragement, lifts to rehearsals, help behind the scenes, and constant support mean the world to us.

📣 You spoke – we listened! 📣

For the first time in our history, our Box Office will now be open every Monday evening for in-person ticket reservations and queries for ALL events, cinema showings and performances at Hyde Festival Theatre.

Starting Monday 16th March 2026, this has been made possible thanks to the fantastic support of our volunteers and the Sparks Theatre Management team.

We will be trialling this new opening for six months, giving customers the opportunity to book tickets in person for any event and continue supporting local theatre and live entertainment in Hyde.

Between us we direct, choreograph, manage costumes, finances and admin, design and build sets, make props and stage manage — and we proudly volunteer our time to help bring every production to life and give children the opportunity to shine. ✨

Today we pulled together an action plan and jobs list for our upcoming show – covering staging, costuming and advertising – while also planning ahead and ordering licences and scripts for our next two productions… watch this space! 👀
