This week’s BBC article on menopause is another positive step towards open conversation about women’s health.

Every woman’s experience of menopause is unique — and while it’s a natural transition, it can bring real changes in energy, sleep, mood, and body temperature - as well as those pesky hot flushes!

In herbal medicine, menopause is seen not as something to be “treated,” but as a stage of transformation — a time to support the body’s changing rhythm and nurture balance.

Gentle, evidence-informed herbs can offer real support for both mind and body, helping to promote overall wellbeing. This is where herbal medicine in my view excels!

When colds or winter bugs strike, my Cold/Flu herbal tea is my go to blend. It is packed with herbs traditionally used to ease those pesky symptoms.

Elderberry – rich in antioxidants, traditionally used to support the immune system.
Elderflower – helps ease congestion and clear sinuses.
Hyssop – a gentle expectorant, lovely for soothing the chest and easing coughs.
Lime flower – calming and relaxing, great when you’re feeling run-down (also tastes great!)
Ribwort plantain – supports the throat and airways.
Thyme – antimicrobial and warming. Wonderful for chesty colds.

Thanks again to the organisers of the award winning South Molton Pannier Market which I was delighted to attend last Saturday 13th September). There were so many fantastic stalls at this indoor market (I bought fruit, artisan bread, coffee and a wonderful handmade patchwork throw - yes I know I was there to sell herbal remedies, but I could not resist!). If you live around the area, I highly recommend visting this market - you won't be disappointed!
