Last week some of us went to HIiDs, Head Injury Information Day (rebranded as Conference, but same yearly thing.) https://www.hiid.org.uk/hiid-scotland-2025 There were a lot of exhibitors, a lot of talks and interactive Brain things going on! It was held by Digby Brown. Their Calendar Competition closes for us in a couple of days, so get your entry in for a chance of winning some money for you (and us!) Today was Head Injury Conference at the SECC, so a wee report and pics for our members will follow shortly! Meanwhile, our brilliantly creative, professional photographer Alex has given us this wonderful image of Dalmuir taken from across the water. Awesome. It's a privillage to have someone like Alex in our group and on out team. 😃

ALARM! Aye, don't worry, tomorrow the Government is sending out a message with a distinctive alarm to every mobile it can reach in the UK to TEST the direct line alarm - the alarm means nothing tomorrow, please don't worry, but at least you'll know what it sounds like and looks like if the Government have to pass on public safety warnings en masse. Yesterday we were off to the Lady Haig Poppy factory in Edinburgh. Everyone who works there is a military vetran. If you visit here, your gratitude for the valour of those who gave their lives for us, living and dead, will be elevated as ours was at BIEN.

Dougie Crabbe was our tour guide, and I wish I'd got his military credentials so we could fully address his name here. Dougie showed us around the factory and answered questions. Of particular interest was the Arras room. It's a military green colour with a huge boardroom table and chairs, and pictures and artifacts on the walls detailing the battle of Arras in 1917 where so many Scots fell. It was a battle that saw the highest concentration of Scottish troops fighting in a single battle during World War 1.
For me, every level of the tour reflected humanity at its most shining, and Dougie was a great host.
We picked up a wreath for November ceremonies, it's in the pictures. What a great job, everything hand crafted!
Our jouney there and back was blighted by loud train announcements (!), but we had a great meal before going to the factory, and we never stopped blethering!
Aye, yet another great day out for BIEN, and rememberance of all those who fell or were injured in battle so people like us can live today and even do things like this. 🌺
