✨ Alderwood 2025: A Year in Moments ✨

From January’s first hopeful steps into a new year to December’s gentle closing notes, 2025 has been a year filled with connection, kindness, and countless moments that reminded us what makes Alderwood so special 💛

Each month brought its own treasured memories, shared laughter, meaningful conversations, new experiences, and the everyday moments that quietly became the heart of our year

What made 2025 truly meaningful wasn’t just the activities, but the people. Our wonderful residents, whose warmth, stories, and spirit brighten every day and our dedicated colleagues, whose compassion and commitment create a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and at home

We couldn’t be more grateful to walk this journey with such incredible individuals. Their presence is what turns Alderwood from a building into a true community.

As we look back, we feel proud, thankful, and deeply moved by everything we’ve shared together. And as we step into 2026, we carry with us the joy, the memories, and the hope that the year ahead will bring even more moments worth cherishing ✨

We welcomed 2026 with delicious food, drinks, and plenty of smiles 😄✨.

Our wonderful colleagues went above and beyond to make sure our residents had a truly special celebration, and judging by all the happy faces, it was a smashing start to the year!

🎄 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 🦌

This December, colleagues, residents, families and friends from across all 27 Meallmore care homes came together to do something truly special.

Through our Meallmore Reindeer Run, we collectively:
✔ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝟰,𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀
✔ 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 £𝟮,𝟮𝟲𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗿 Cash for Kids – 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀
✔ 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱𝟬 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 to support children and families across our local communities

From walking, wheeling, cycling and adapting activities, to festive costumes, creativity and teamwork, this was a challenge that everyone could be part of — and that’s what made it so powerful.

More than a fundraiser, the Reindeer Run was about:
💚 Inclusion and connection
💚 Bringing people together
💚 Supporting families beyond our homes
💚 Showing what’s possible when communities work as one

A huge thank you to every resident, colleague, family member and supporter who took part, donated, cheered us on or helped make this happen. This is what makes Meallmore such a special community - and why we’re so proud of the people who live and work in our homes.

What a way to finish the year. 🎄✨

Meallmore’s Reindeer Run saw 27 care homes travel 4,800 miles, raising £2,260 and donating over 250 gifts for Cash for Kids.

A huge well done to our amazing colleague James, who took the Reindeer Run challenge to the next level by climbing Ben Nevis solo to clock up an incredible number of steps! 👏💪

James went above and beyond, even stopping along the way to give Alderwood House a mention in the snow - what dedication! ❄️😊

⚽💛 A Day to Remember at The Rock! 💛⚽

We are immensely grateful to Dumbarton F.C. for giving our residents at Alderwood House an unforgettable experience at their first live game at The Rock! 🏟️✨

A huge thank you to Owner Mario Lapointe and Chief Executive Cameron Watson, whose incredible support has opened new opportunities for our residents to connect with the local community and enjoy the thrill of football. Your commitment to inclusion and wellbeing means so much. 🙌

We also appreciate the warm welcome from Captain Mark Durnan, Facilities Director Jordan Brownlee, and Club Photographer Andy Scott, who made everyone feel part of the team. Special thanks to our colleague Cindy Henderson, Senior Support Worker, and proud Dumbarton fan Dan McLaughlin, Mental Health Support Worker, for sharing this special day with our residents. ❤️

And a big shout-out to JJR Print for producing the fantastic banner that helped us celebrate this partnership! 🎉

🍳 Life Skills in Action at Alderwood House! 🍳

Our resident Andrew had a fantastic time preparing his own evening meal in the Life Skills Kitchen, supported by our colleague Dan. 👨🍳✨

Together, they spent time learning, creating, and enjoying a delicious dish - and Andrew absolutely loved the experience! Moments like these are what independence and confidence are all about. 💪👏

🧠🎉 Quiz Time Fun at Alderwood House! 🎉🧠

We had a fantastic team quiz at Alderwood House, and the competition was brilliant! 🏆 A huge well done to our talented chef Michael, who came out on top and was absolutely delighted with his well-deserved prize. 👏✨

It’s always great to see our colleagues enjoying some friendly fun together — teamwork and laughter make the best recipe for a brilliant day! 💜

🍳Cammy’s Cooking Class Success! 🍳

Our resident Cammy was absolutely delighted with the chicken curry he prepared during cooking class - and rightly so! It looked and smelled amazing, and Cammy was super proud of his delicious creation. 😍👏

Cooking class was yet another success, filled with flavour, fun and fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Eyes down and dabbers at the ready - our residents had a brilliant time at our latest Bingo event! 🎉

There was plenty of excitement as everyone hoped to be the lucky winner, and the room was filled with laughter and friendly competition. 💛👏

We love seeing our residents enjoy these moments together - roll on the next game! 🎊

🎳🎉 Birthday Bowling Fun at Alderwood! 🎂✨

Our residents had a fantastic day out at the brand new Megabowl for a special birthday treat! 🧁

There were strikes, smiles and lots of laughter as everyone explored the new venue and enjoyed a fun-filled time together.

We’re already planning our next visit - it was that good! 🙌👏
