We are absolutely delighted to share that the team at Alderwood House has achieved Grade 5s in our recent inspection - a fantastic accomplishment that reflects the dedication, compassion and hard work shown every single day 💛✨

To celebrate, we recognised several colleagues who truly shone during the inspection, as well as our wonderful residents who proudly showcased their Recovery Stars, demonstrating the progress, strength and achievements that inspire us all ⭐🌈

🌟👋 Meet the Team at Alderwood House – Introducing Mel! 👋🌟

We’re continuing our Meet the Team series here at Alderwood House, and this week we’re delighted to introduce Mel, one of our dedicated Senior Support Worker colleagues 💛

Mel brings so much fun, creativity and out‑of‑the‑box thinking to Alderwood - especially when it comes to activities! 🎨✨

💬 What do you enjoy most about your role?
“I love that I have the opportunity to help and support the residents in a meaningful way. I really enjoy planning activities and spending quality time with them. I also love learning about Mental Health.”

💬 What does a typical working day look like?
“Administering medications, assisting with evening activities and supporting my colleagues.”

💬 How do you look after your own mental health?
“I spend quality time with my partner, go for nice walks with our dogs and babysit my baby grandson.” 🐾👶💛

“I love crime documentaries and horror - and I’m daft about Halloween!” 🎃👻

💆‍♀️🕯️ A Spa‑tacular Evening at Alderwood House! 🕯️💆‍♂️

We treated our residents to a fantastic Spa Evening at Alderwood last weekend - and what a beautiful, relaxing night it was! 🌸✨

Our amazing nightshift colleagues organised a cosy and calming experience complete with soothing treatments and some tasty snacks to enjoy throughout the evening 🧖‍♀️🕯️🍇

Everyone felt wonderfully relaxed afterwards, and the atmosphere was filled with smiles, calmness and a real sense of wellbeing 💛🌟

A huge thank you to the nightshift team for creating such a special experience for our residents!

🎨 Design the Meallmore Whisky Label 2026 🥃

Last year, a resident named John painted a sunrise.

That painting became our whisky label.
Over 500 people voted for it.
And today, that bottle tells a story - of creativity, community and connection.

Sadly, John passed away in the summer of 2025, but his artwork lives on. His label, Leven Sunrise, is now part of Meallmore history and a reminder of why we run this competition every year.

🧇 Waffle Day at Alderwood House! 🍓🍌🍦

Our residents had an absolutely wonderful time at our very own Waffle Station!

They loved decorating their own waffles with a delicious selection of fresh fruit and cream, and there were plenty of smiles all around. 💛

It was a fun, tasty and creative afternoon, and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved.

A big well‑done and thank you to our colleagues who helped make this sweet activity such a success! 🌟

🌸 Mother’s Day at Alderwood House🌸

We celebrated Mothering Sunday with a beautiful afternoon tea here at Alderwood House. Residents enjoyed a delicious selection of sandwiches, vol‑au‑vents, macarons and other sweet treats - and judging by the big smiles, it was a truly lovely day ✨🍰

A heartfelt well done to our amazing colleagues for putting together yet another wonderful spread. Your hard work and creativity help make these occasions so special for everyone.

We’re delighted to showcase the amazing creativity of our resident Steven, who has been proudly sharing his marvellous artwork with us.

Steven designs all of his pieces himself and takes great joy in relaxing in his room while creating new prints. His passion and imagination shine through every design, and we are so proud of everything he has achieved ✨🖼️

🌟 Meet the Team at Alderwood House – Steven Carruth 🌟

We’re proud to begin introducing the incredible colleagues who make Alderwood House such a special place to live and work — and there’s no better place to start than with Steven Carruth, our very first Carer of the Year award winner in 2024. 💛

Steven’s journey is one we’re especially proud of. He joined Alderwood as a Support Worker with no previous experience in care. Through dedication, compassion and a real commitment to learning, he progressed through our Upskills Academy, achieving promotion to Senior Support Worker last year.

That’s what development looks like in action.

To help you get to know Steven a little better, we asked him a few quick questions:

✨ What do you enjoy most about your role?
“I love making a difference to the residents’ everyday lives – laughing and joking with them, seeing them smile, and learning more about mental health each day.”

✨ What does a typical working day look like?
“Supporting residents with daily tasks, dispensing and administering medication, joining in with activities and keeping up to date with daily notes.”

✨ How do you look after your own mental health?
“I listen to music, go for walks, play my Xbox and spend time with friends.”

✨ A random fact about you?
“I love pepperoni pizza, Rangers Football Club and Star Wars.”

From starting with no care background to becoming a Senior Support Worker and award winner, Steven’s journey reflects the growth, opportunity and support available at Alderwood House.

We’re incredibly proud to have him as part of our team - and even prouder of the difference he makes every single day. 💛

We were truly feeling the love this Valentine’s Day at Alderwood House 💕

Our residents were absolutely delighted with their sit‑down formal Valentine’s dinner, and the atmosphere was full of smiles, warmth and wonderful conversation.

From a delicious meal to sweet treats and thoughtful touches, it was a special celebration enjoyed by all - and really captured the spirit of Valentine’s Day 💛🍰🌹

Our hot chocolate station, organised by our lovely colleague Traceyann, went down an absolute treat with both residents and colleagues at Alderwood!

With a wonderful selection of hot chocolates and plenty of sweet treats to choose from, it was a huge hit and brought lots of smiles and cosy moments throughout the home 💛

A big well done to Traceyann for creating such an enjoyable and heart‑warming experience for everyone 👏😊
