Why practice Nia?
Nia Dance Fitness classes with
certified Blue Belt Instructor
Lucy Rose Donovan
Weekly classes take place at Studio 3, Lovers Lane Studios, Rae St, Dumfries - Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 10.30am and at Summerhill Community Centre - Wednesdays at 12.30pm.
Nia fitness is based on the idea that exercise should feel good inside and out. This doesn't mean that you can't challenge yourself - you can - but you can also learn to feel good whilst doing so!
Taking inspiration from Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts such as yoga, Nia allows you to find comfortable ways of building your flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability.
Nia is practiced barefoot and set to music from all over the world. Every class is tailored and adapted to individual needs and abilities.
Typically, Nia classes last 60 minutes and include a mindful intention, warm-up, aerobic conditioning, strength training, cool down and movements promoting flexibility. It's a workout but it's so much more...and has to be experienced to be fully understood!
Nia choreography is based on 52 moves designed to exercise every joint and muscle group in the body.
Nia has a focus on learning to love your body and expressing yourself through moving in your body’s unique way.
