So, heres a little about me. 😊

Hi there I'm Lauren Handley , I am 31 years old and a mum of 2 beautiful children. I've worked in the care industry for around 15 years now. Working alongside people with different complex needs such as dementia, autism, mental health and disabilities, I have my SVQ 3 and gained quite alot of knowledge and training over the years and I am always looking to build up my qualifications to offer the best possible care. I am SSSC registered and PVG checked. I absolutely love helping others and making people happy.

I have decided to start my own business to offer care, support and companionship for older individuals who are needing support at home as I have an understanding of how lonely and challenging it can be and how hard it can be on families as I have been in that situation myself.

Through the Pathways programme with South of Scotland Enterprise, we’re proud to support another incredible member of our community.

Maryna moved to Scotland from Ukraine three years ago and has shown remarkable courage, resilience, and determination in building a new life here. Despite the challenges of settling into a new country, learning a new language, and living in a rural area, she has embraced every opportunity for growth and connection.

Maryna runs a small cake-making business called The Dessert Gallery, creating beautifully decorated, authentic Ukrainian desserts. Each piece reflects her creativity, culture, and craftsmanship — and she’s already gained a reputation for her bespoke and visually stunning cakes. Alongside her business, Maryna also works part-time at a local bakery.

Through Pathways, she’s found both confidence and community — improving her English, developing business communication skills, and feeling a deeper sense of belonging. She’s actively engaging in networking and will soon be showcasing her baking talents at upcoming Pathways events.

Maryna’s journey is a true celebration of resilience, creativity, and community spirit — showing how determination and the right support can help people thrive and build fulfilling lives here in Scotland. 💛🎂🇺🇦
