What is happening in Gaza is unbearable. The killing and maiming of innocent people, the starvation of families, the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools—it is all wrong. No child should grow up under siege. No family should be bombed, displaced, shot at when desperately searching for food, no human deserves to be stripped of hope for their family's future.

This suffering didn’t begin on October 7th. It is the result of decades of occupation, oppression, and dehumanisation. And it must end.

Calling for peace, justice, and freedom for all people is not political, it is human.

I absolutely loved working on the redesign of the fabulous The Edinburgh Larder at the start of this year. It was tough going - transforming a cafe and two toilets in one week -but with a brilliant team and some long shifts, we made it happen.

The A team; Fin Loening Joinery, Paul Finlay Ltd, Amanda Wells Bespoke Studio Seapink , JaneR Designs and Arisaig Electricals.

I can highly recommend the summer menu in this gorgeous cafe😋 which has the loveliest staff. Thank you so much for this review ❤

I'm wrapping up a few projects this week, ahead of a summer break, reflecting on lovely clients and gorgeous projects.

I'm especially grateful for the awesome trades and makers that I get to work with. They're highly skilled and creative, they make me laugh and help keep me sane (ish!)

Here are the words of about the team who helped pull off a one-week redesign of a cafe and two toilets...

"The team Hannah brought in worked incredibly hard to meet tight timescales so we could reopen quickly. This included coping with an unexpected storm, which could have delayed the project; however, they pulled together and worked tirelessly to complete it on time and to an exceptionally high standard. The first project on my desk after my holiday is a child's bedroom. It's tough to choose which spaces I enjoy designing the most, but kids' rooms are definitely up there. I think it's the balance of fun and practicality.

Here's a little fireplace makeover, which turned a drab fireplace into something more playful.

Hope those navigating the school holidays with kids are all surviving! x

It is so good to see sunshine again this week. Especially as this is the week we start work on a dormer window in our attic bedroom. I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for a dry few days while there is a large hole in our roof!

Here's another bedroom project and a sunny shot in honour of this sunny day...snapped on my phone during my last visit to these lovely clients. This was a really fun transformation, full room reveal to follow!

I've had another busy week of style surgeries... four fabulous and completely different homes in four different East Lothian towns, and I've loved every single one!

It's all the little design decisions, made thoughtfully at every stage of a project, that come together to make something really special.

The gorgeous curves on this bespoke cabinetry, designed to soften the edges and help the built-ins feel completely at home on either side of the fireplace, a soft white to help these cabinets feel they have been here forever and warm brass finishes to sit happily in this beautiful, traditional Victorian home.

A great way to tuck away cabling (and all the other media and wiring is hidden away in the cabinet too! 🤫😊)

Thursday throwback with a little before and after for this office space...

The brief called for book storage, an interesting backdrop for online meetings and a place in the room to escape the desk!

I worked with to design this beautiful bookcase using two IKEA Ivar units as a base and we created the little chill-out area (one of two spots in the house where you can enjoy a sea view☺️🌊) that also doubles as a pull-out bed for extra guests.

I visited this sunny home with the brilliant this week. Jen takes such gorgeous photos, and photo-shoot day is always a fun day! 😊

The design for this space aimed to connect it with the beautiful garden, designed by the super talented 💚🌿

We kept the walls soft and bright to reflect as much light as possible, reused the client's existing chair and sofa to create a comfy sun-soaked hang-out, helped place their incredible original art collection and filled the remaining corners with lots of natural materials, textures and plants! 🪴

I have loved working with this fun, outdoor-loving, talented and kind family and it was such a treat to revisit their home again.
