Recently, I’ve been spending days at virtual clinics held at Stobhill hospital in Glasgow while training for an independent prescribing qualification.

It’s a long process involving a university course with coursework and exams followed by clinical sessions and yes, another exam! I’m glad to say, the end is in sight.

I started the course with fear and trepidation but as I reach the latter stages, I look back it as a huge step in my career, bringing confidence to clinical decision making. It’s even (and I’ll whisper it) been fun at times.

Optometry has been advancing at pace over the 25 years that I’ve been qualified and our remit is becoming more and more health related. We’re super proud of Fiona who has also completed her NESGAT glaucoma qualification and Claire who is in the middle of it just now.

At Baird Optometrists, we’re proud to be part of the optometry revolution.
