ANGUS COUNCIL have received report of an incident where a Social Care service user was contacted by someone claiming to be from the Community Alarm service. The caller said they were carrying out equipment testing locally and that a visit has been scheduled. They then asked for the resident’s keysafe code.

😲 We believe this may have been a scam attempt. 😲

🔑Please only share key safe codes with trusted individuals and verified services. You can check the call is genuine by calling the organisation back on an official, trusted number.🔑

🦄 In Scotland, if you have been assessed as requiring a domiciliary care support service, funding of that service by your local authority is flexible.🦄

4️⃣Under Self Directed Support regulations, you have 4 options*4️⃣

✅ Option 1 - Direct Payment
A payment to you or third party to coordinate and pay for your own support.
✅ Option 2 - You direct your own support
You choose the provider, direct your care but the local authority pays the provider.
✅ Option 3 - The local authority arranges your support
They select a provider for you and "own" the relationship with that provider. You have the least control over your care but it can also mean less hassle.
✅ Option 4 - A mix of the above

🎈Of course, you also have the option of self-financing for maximum control over your package of care or if your local authority has not granted you the support which you aspire to.🎈

🧡 Molly (not her real name) is a young woman who lives with autism and studies at Perth college. 🧡

🚗 On Mondays and Thurdays, we pick Molly up from her home in Angus and drive her to Perth where she has classes throughout the day. We remain with her to provide support, should any be required.

🔎 We are vigilant throughout the day but seldom have to intervene.

🧖🏼‍♀️ At the end of the day, we drive Molly back home, as she shares stories of her day with us.

We are looking to grow Molly's team.
