Thread veins, also known as telangiectasia or spider veins, occur when capillaries (the smallest of blood vessels) become permanently dilated and rupture, spreading blood to other capillaries and leaving a fine red or blue tree-like appearance just under the skin.

980nm Laser light is focussed on the target area, and as the light is obstructed by the blood vessel, it causes a leaf reaction which coagulates the blood and destroys the protein in the wall of the vessel. The vessel then breaks down and the debris is removed by the bodyโ€™s natural waste system.

The laser beam is small with the diameter range between 0.2-0.5mm. This is the perfect size to target thread veins. The laser energy is more focused and results in unnecessary heating of the surrounding tissues.

Our Story

Welcome to Empire Beauty Clinic, a family run business here in Dundee. Husband and Wife team, Will and Carmen own and run our Aesthetics Clinic.

Carmen was a veterinary surgeon working for the Scottish government when she met Will who was working as a Systems Manager for a local company. They soon fell in love and settled down in Dundee, decided to build a house and even had a baby.

Carmen has always had an interest in aesthetics and used to run a small Microblading business in order to put herself through university to study as a vet. Although they both had great jobs, they dreamed of independence, flexibility and personal fulfilment. So everyone thought that they were crazy when shortly after the birth of their daughter they decided to leave behind their old careers and work together towards building an Empire :)

They started small with sharing a rented treatment room within a gym but very quickly gained a loyal customer base that allowed them to continuously grow. Now years on both Carmen and Will are highly trained in many treatments, and run the very successful Empire Beauty Clinic Ltd. They are always expanding and offering new and exciting treatments for Dundee and surrounding areas. They specialise in all thing's โ€œskinโ€ from Microdermabrasion to Dermal Fillers, Laser and much more.
