Thea Moston: Meet the Artist

TH4Y ‘26 - MEET THE ARTISTS: THEA MOSTON /

Thea Moston is a visual artist based in Edinburgh. Thea works with textile manipulation, specifically Shibori, a traditional Japanese technique in which steam is applied to a bound and knotted fabric. Through this process, the material stiffens, creating enclosed forms. Thea combines this technique with natural dyes to create intricate structures. The resultant work is a map of imprints, playing with complex repeating patterns reminiscent of organic networks.

For They Had Four Years, Thea has been continuing to develop her practice working with various installation methods and new materials.

TH4Y ‘26 - MEET THE ARTISTS: NINA PRICE /

Nina Price is a visual artist living and working in Shetland. As a painter, Nina responds directly and sincerely to the landscape she calls home. Embracing immediacy and states of flow, Nina distils a scene into its essence through decisive demarcations of colour and texture. Rather than depicting a single location or landmark, she captures an impression of the land in a moment. Nina’s practice relies on being keenly attuned to time and place. While negotiating shifting light and the elements, she finds a free-spirited meditation in painting.

For They Had Four Years, Nina has been working on a collection of small landscape paintings inspired by Shetland, working across acrylics and oils.

🤔 Still unsure whether to apply for our Greece Residency? 🇬🇷

Generator Projects invites you to hear all about it on Tuesday 5th May, 6.30pm!

Join us with and .j.arts, the first artists we had the privilege to take on our fully-funded Greece Residency.

Samantha and Emily are two artists, who happen to also be sisters, from Dundee. We invite you to a talk and one night exhibition where we will get to hear all about their experiences of the Greece residency and see some of the work they produced, as well as new work that reflects on on how the residency has influenced their practice.

This talk is a great opportunity to hear more about the residency if you are interested in applying. It is also an invitation to hear about how going outside of your comfort zone can influence your practice, and take it to new places.

A beautiful publication about Samantha and Emily’s time in Greece will also be available to take away.

Refreshments will be served 😊

🗣️ WE’RE LOOKING FOR NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS 🗣️

We are excited to recruit some new committee members in advance of some of our current committee leaving this spring!

WHAT IS THE OPERATIONAL COMMITTEE?
The committee is a non-hierarchical and everyone takes their turns doing everything from cleaning the toilets to programming and delivering projects. These roles are not things that an individual would be expected to work on solely, as we all support each other, but you’d be partly responsible for managing Generator overall. The Committeeship has a 2-year tenure, with a 8-16 hour weekly commitment roughly, in which you will be part of every decision made at Generator. We host in person weekly meetings that are essential to attend so you’d ideally be based somewhere you can easily take part (If you are based in Dundee, Angus, Perth & Tayside do apply).

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Committee roles are fluid and changeable throughout your tenure. At this time we have not designated specific roles for new applicants, if you would like more information please email us.

In the Operational Committee you will find a supportive group of peers, some of the best arts experience to develop skills in all areas of running a gallery and project space, resources for professional development, as well as the chance to make your dream projects happen. Generator’s approach is radical, fluid and responsive to the communities we exist within.

WHO CAN APPLY?
We especially welcome applicants from a variety of life stages and professional experience. While recent graduates are welcome to apply, we will be prioritising applications outwith this cohort.

Experience required: none, just love for making art happen and the willingness to get stuck in!

Please note, roles on the Operational Committee are not open to current students. If you are a student looking to get involved in Generator Projects you may join as a Member, or email the committee to join the Associate Committee.

To apply please send of expression of Interest no more than 200 words and your CV to mail@generatorprojects.co.uk

DEADLINE:

🌟 RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITY 🌟

We at Generator Projects are excited to announce the second run of the international residency program in the village of Katastari, on the Island of Zakynthos, Greece.

We are looking for two Dundee (and surrounding area) based artists who would like to work together or who are seeking to create a body of work collaboratively. This is a beautiful opportunity to take one’s practice out of a familiar place and experience a new setting in landscape, culture and studio space. If this is you, please submit a project proposal and CV to us by June 10th 2026.

THE LOCATION - Katastari is a seaside village surrounded by hills of olive groves. Nearby are more villages, including Zakynthos Town which is a bustly social and cultural hub. The mainland is accessible via ferry, where art supplies can be purchased. As well as this, Jackson’s Art supplies can be shipped directly to the site.

THE MEDIUMS - This residence is open to a wide variety of mediums including drawing, painting, photography, collage, textile, sound, digital, found objects, mixed media, installation and performance.

THE STUDIO - the studio/workshop consists of two adjoining outdoor and indoor spaces, with mobile and fixed easels, workbenches and tables.

DATES - the residency will run for the first three weeks of September. Depending on the artist’s availability and travel availability within these dates, the residency is able to be flexible.

IMPORTANT - Please note, your proposal must reference your collaborator, we cannot accept individual applications. Though you must apply as a pair, your work does not need to be collaborative.

This residency is not open to students. Though you may apply as a student, your studies must have commenced by the time of the residency.

For further particulars or any questions you may have, please contact us at mail@generatorprojects.co.uk and we will pass on our information document and answer your queries.
