Pharmacy First Plus gives patients even more access to expert treatment for common conditions, right in their community pharmacy. 💊

Not every pharmacy offers it yet - why? Pharmacists need to complete extensive training to qualify as Independent Prescribers (IPs). Over the coming years, more and more pharmacists will gain this qualification, making the service even more widely available. 🙌

Going the Extra Mile, Literally 💚

Community Pharmacy teams never quite know what each day will bring, but they’re always ready to step up when someone needs them most.

In our Newburgh branch, a patient arrived in a very vulnerable state, with visible injuries and struggling to stay alert. Concerned for their safety, the Pharmacist, Abbey, encouraged them to seek further medical help. When the patient refused, an ambulance was called - but they left the pharmacy determined to walk home.

That’s when the team went above and beyond. Fiona and Abbey, stayed close by, making sure the patient was safe as they made their way down a rural road - stumbling at times, even into traffic. They kept their distance when needed, reassured the patient, and ensured cars stayed clear until the patient finally reached home. They remained outside until the ambulance crew arrived and could take over.

This was not about prescriptions or medicines. It was about compassion, quick thinking, and the determination to protect someone at their most vulnerable. ⭐

This is the heart of community pharmacy. 💚
