There are still spaces left on these dates for Makaton Level 1 and Level 2 in Angus. These workshops are for parents/carers and professionals of children and young people who would benefit from Makaton to support their communication. The workshops are for participants who live or work in Tayside. There is a cost for the participant's manual; more details when you book.

Exciting news, New Makaton Courses coming soon! 🌟

Our Makaton tutor Mike will be running upcoming Makaton courses designed for parents, carers, and professionals who want to support children’s communication in a fun, practical, and meaningful way.

Makaton uses signs, symbols, and speech to help children and young people develop communication, language, and understanding. It can be especially helpful for children with speech, language, and communication needs, autism, or learning differences—but it benefits all learners.

***Join our Team*** Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, NHS Tayside Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy Service

You will work within the NHS Tayside Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service as a Band 7 SLT in Angus locality. You will have an interest in quality improvement and leadership.

Your clinical role will be to support children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

Your role will also include support and mentoring to SLT team members in this specialist area and provide leadership, in assistance to the Team Lead, to a small geographic “hub” of therapists.

You will bring extensive skills, knowledge and experience in working with both pre-school and school aged children and experience and understanding of how to support children with complex needs across a variety of educational placements.

You will also be involved in delivering programmes and activities to reduce inequalities as part of the service wide work at a universal and targeted level.

The work is wide ranging and includes joint work with partners in other agencies

You will join a supportive team where professional development is supported and encouraged. You will be based in the Speech and Language Therapy departments in Angus locality but may be required to work flexibly across NHS Tayside in schools and community settings as well as in health settings and be willing to travel to a number of sites.
