As a nutritionist, I’ll always say this…

When you support your gut health properly, everything else starts to change.

Over the past 18 months, as I navigated perimenopause, I found myself dealing with stubborn weight gain, digestive issues, brain fog and a noticeable dip in my mood and energy.

I was doing “all the right things”… but my body wasn’t responding.

So I went back to basics — and focused on my gut.

Because here’s what the science tells us:

Your gut microbiome plays a key role in hormone regulation, particularly through the estrobolome (the collection of gut bacteria involved in oestrogen metabolism). When gut health is compromised, this can impact how oestrogen is processed and recycled in the body — something that becomes even more important during perimenopause.

We also know there is a strong gut-brain connection. Around 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut, meaning imbalances can directly affect mood, anxiety levels and cognitive function like brain fog.

You show up for everyone else… every single day.

Your kids.
Your home.
Your work.
Everything and everyone that needs you.

But somewhere along the way… you stopped showing up for you.

I know this feeling so well.

I spent years putting myself to the bottom of the list. Even after losing over 100lbs, I still found myself struggling again — low energy, weight creeping back around my middle, gut issues flaring, and navigating perimenopause on top of it all.

I didn’t recognise my body… and if I’m honest, I didn’t fully feel like me either.

That loss of confidence, the brain fog, the exhaustion… it slowly chips away at you.

And as mums, we just keep going, don’t we?
